Tucker Carlson says he will reveal ‘shocking’ tapes between Michael Cohen, Chris Cuomo

It is no secret that there is little love lost between Fox News’ Tucker Carlson and CNN’s Chris Cuomo.

So it’s no surprise that Carlson seemed almost giddy as he shared that he will be revealing “shocking” audiotapes of conversations between Cuomo and disgraced former Trump attorney Michael Cohen sometime next week.

Secret tapes

Carlson delivered the tease near the end of his program, “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” on Friday and it didn’t take long before the brief segment was going viral on social media.

One of those who shared the clip was Washington Examiner editor Daniel Chaitin, who noted in a thread of tweets that the audiotapes likely date back to at least two years ago, per a report at the time from the Wall Street Journal, with federal investigators reportedly taking custody of the tapes during Cohen’s prosecution for bank and tax fraud that was unrelated to his former boss, President Donald Trump.

A “shocking conversation”

“Television is a famously phony medium, grown men wear makeup to work. Hate to admit that, but it’s true. But television also, over time, is revealing. If you watch long enough, you can tell who is real and who is fraudulent. Well, you’re about to have all of your perceptions confirmed,” Carlson said, according to the Washington Examiner.

“Remember Michael Cohen, the president’s former lawyer, the one who went to jail for tax evasion? Cohen was a committed sleazeball, so it probably won’t surprise you to learn that he was very friendly with a number of well-known media figures,” he continued. “Underneath it all, they had a lot in common. The unethical lawyer and the unethical talk show hosts. Cohen talked to all of them recently.”

“Well, it turns out those conversations were tape-recorded — the audio quality is excellent. Copies have been floating around for quite some time now, none has aired publicly yet. Who is he talking to? A lot of people,” Carlson said with a laugh.

“Chris Cuomo at CNN was one of them. Cohen and the governor’s brother had a pretty shocking conversation. Bottom line, Chris Cuomo is not the person he pretends to be on CNN. And there is more. This is a developing story. We’ll have all of it for you next week. Tune in,” the Fox host added.

What’s on the tape?

In his tweet thread, Chaitin also shared a YouTube video from two years ago of White House counselor Kellyanne Conway in a contentious interview with Cuomo during which the alleged tapes were brought up by Conway, upon which Cuomo immediately became defensive and refused to divulge any of what had been said between him and Cuomo.

Presuming that Carlson will hold true to his word and share the reportedly two-hours long conversation between Cuomo and Cohen, it looks like we are all about to learn the answers to Conway’s questions that the CNN host refused to answer — and judging by Carlson’s laugh, Cuomo likely won’t be pleased.
