Fox News host Tucker Carlson recently announced the launch of a new program on the network’s subscription streaming service Fox Nation called Tucker Carlson Originals, which features deep dives into particular topics.
In the premiere episode of the series, titled “Chicago in Crisis,” Carlson takes a sharp look at the surging crime rate in the city that has become “one of the most dangerous places” in the entire Western hemisphere.
No prosecution of violent crimes
Of particular focus in the debut episode is Chicago State’s Attorney Kim Foxx, a far-left prosecutor who was helped into office by the George Soros-backed Justice and Public Safety PAC.
Carlson made note of the substantial role Foxx has played in allowing the crime rate in Chicago to surge to nearly unprecedented levels, in large part by dropping criminal charges against arrested individuals and allowing them back onto the city’s streets.
In fact, Carlson asserted that in just her first year as the top prosecutor in Chicago, Foxx dropped charges against roughly 30% of the city’s felony offenders.
Carlson also pointed to Foxx’s minimal response to the civil unrest that rocked Chicago throughout the summer of 2020, how violent rioters and thieving looters often went uncharged after being arrested and how, of those who did ultimately face charges, most were released prior to trial.
Alleged murderer walking free
The Fox host also spent part of the program covering the quest for justice by the Tungekar family whose father was murdered. The alleged assailant, Uber driver Fangqui Lu, has been released by Foxx without any charges.
Making that particular case all the more outrageous is the fact that the fatal assault was captured on surveillance video, and clearly showed Lu delivering a roundhouse kick to Tungekar’s head.
Even though the Chicago police swiftly arrested Lu for the murder of Tungekar, and the incident was caught on video, Foxx allegedly still declined to press charges.
Failing her community
Carlson isn’t alone in exposing Foxx for the failure she has been. In November 2020, Heritage Foundation labeled her a “rogue” prosecutor while highlighting some of Chicago’s horrific crime statistics, especially involving shootings and homicides, that have accrued under her watch.
Heritage also took note of Foxx’s “get out of jail free” policies, which involve releasing charged individuals without bail. She has also dropped criminal charges against individuals at a stunning rate, with the most notorious being actor Jussie Smollett, who faked a “hate crime” against himself but walked without repercussions when Foxx dropped all 16 charges that a grand jury lodged against him.
“The fact is that most of those slain under Foxx’s haphazard and questionable leadership are black, and her policies harm the very communities she pretends to care about the most,” the Foundation concluded.
