Fox News host Tucker Carlson shredded the mainstream media during his opening monologue on Friday’s program over its disparate treatment of the two presidential candidates, President Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden.
Regardless of how this presidential election turns out, “the American media will never be the same,” Carlson said, because it is “too dishonest.”
“A cover-up in real time”
The top-rated Fox host first addressed Trump and Biden’s dueling town hall events held on Thursday after the previously scheduled debate was canceled — a cancelation that Carlson suggests was meant to protect Biden from being questioned about the growing scandal surrounding the recently revealed emails obtained from an abandoned laptop owned by his son, Hunter Biden.
Carlson said that Fox has “received nonpublic information that proves conclusively” that the device belonged to Biden and the emails recovered from it were legitimate.
“So there’s no excuse for not asking [Biden] about it,” he said. “None. But they didn’t ask about it. It was a cover-up in real-time.”
“No matter what happens in the election next month, the American media will never be the same after this. It cannot continue this way. It is too dishonest,” Carlson said.
Carlson then spent several moments going over the lowlights of the Biden town hall on ABC, pointing out the softball questions from audience members — some of whom have since been revealed as former Democratic Party operatives — and the “moderator,” George Stephanopoulos, himself a veteran Democratic operative-turned-“journalist.”
“Biden was allowed to answer non-questions like this because he was surrounded by sycophants and former employees of his party,” he said.
Carlson then turned his attention to the Trump town hall that aired on NBC at the same time, where the president was aggressively questioned by “moderator” Savannah Guthrie. “So Joe Biden wasn’t there so the moderator played stand-in for Joe Biden,” Carlson surmised.
The good news
“The good news about all of this is it’s so bad and so transparent that it can’t continue, all of their stupid little morning shows and their dumb Sunday shows and their even dumber cable shows,” Carlson said. “All of that is going away.”
“When the smoke clears from this election, there will be a massive realignment in the media, no matter who wins because they’ve showed who they are and it is so unappealing. It’s so far from journalism that it can’t continue,” he continued.
“Meanwhile, back on ABC, Joe Biden skated by without answering any questions of substance about his son or Antifa, or BLM. The moderator over on NBC pushed Donald Trump to condemn QAnon and white supremacy, the most important issues in this nation, and he did it, dutifully, but it wasn’t enough,” Carlson added, again highlighting the wildly different treatment the two candidates had received.
