Catholic Biden makes bizarre claim that ‘all mainstream religions’ support Roe v. Wade

After years of becoming more liberal on the issue of abortion, President Joe Biden appears to have finally accepted the left’s twisted sacralization of infanticide.

In an apparent effort to tie Roe V. Wade’s quicksand-like legal reasoning to centuries of history, Biden, who is Catholic, made the bizarre, sweeping assertion that Roe is supported by “all mainstream” religions, Fox reported

“All religions” support Roe?

In making this strange claim, Biden overlooked the fact that the Catholic Church, to which he belongs, says life begins at conception.

Biden pushed things further, citing St. Thomas Aquinas to call the sanctity of life into question.

“Roe says what all basic mainstream religions have historically concluded, that the existence of a human life and being is a question. Is it at the moment of conception? Is it six months? Is it six weeks?” he questioned. “Is it quickening, like Aquinas argued?”

Biden was reacting to the Supreme Court’s prospective plans to overturn the Roe decision. He mischaracterized Justice Samuel Alito’s draft opinion, which states that Roe unconstitutionally prohibits the people from regulating abortion, as a blanket “judgment” banning abortion.

“So, the idea that we’re going to make a judgment that is going to say that no one can make the judgment to choose to abort a child based on a decision by the Supreme Court, I think goes way overboard.”

Biden’s history with Roe

Of course, what Biden is really getting at with this slippery argument is that there should be no limits on the “fundamental right” to an abortion.

Biden wasn’t always so extreme. Believe it or not, he once voted to overturn Roe, which he said went “too far.” Back in 1974, the then-newly elected senator said that a woman doesn’t have “the sole right to say what should happen to her body.”

But fifty years later, the left’s highest sacrament is facing its most serious threat to date, and Biden is ditching whatever remained of his principles — while straining the limits of his carefully cultivated image of Catholic piety.

Oddly, it seems that Biden has drifted so far to the left, he doesn’t consider the world’s largest church “mainstream” anymore. But that isn’t stopping him from using Christian language to advance the left’s infanticidal agenda.

Biden strangely claimed Wednesday that the right to end a pregnancy comes from God — from being a “child of God,” to quote him. Biden’s got chutzpah, that’s for sure.
