Chris Cuomo’s wife under fire for indoor yoga session amid New York coronavirus shutdown

After his family battled the coronavirus earlier this year, CNN host Chris Cuomo’s wife is in the news for her apparent disregard for ongoing business shutdowns aimed at preventing the further spread of the virus.

Cristina Cuomo is under fire this week after she shared an Instagram video showing her and a yoga instructor working out inside an empty shoe store.

“Our best issue ever”

Karol Markowicz of the New York Post flagged the video in her own social media post.

Cuomo and the instructor were reportedly exercising at a Jimmy Choo store in East Hampton, New York.

In addition to working out inside amid restrictions that keep other New Yorkers out of the gym, she is also facing criticism for promoting her own wellness magazine and the upscale shoe store’s merchandise in the roughly hourlong video.

“You have to check it out,” she said of the latest issue of The Purist. “It’s our best issue ever I think because it’s really important.”

Don Lemon, whose weeknight CNN program follows Chris Cuomo’s, is on the cover of the magazine. Cristina Cuomo said the related article “addresses some very relevant issues right now and Don’s voice [is] incredible.”

“No social distancing, no masks”

As Fox News noted, she appears to have a partnership with Jimmy Choo, which would make it all the more problematic for her and her yoga instructor to show off their apparel as they did in the video.

The narrative did not sit well with many locals, especially considering that her brother-in-law, Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, has instituted a lockdown that has significantly limited opportunities for a workout.

One gym owner pointed out the apparent hypocrisy.

“Cristina Cuomo is selling her products while working out indoors at the Hamptons [Jimmy Choo] store with her trainer; No social distancing, no masks,” the individual reportedly posted. “Why is it the Cuomo family can make a living but I can’t open my gym to support my team and family?”

As the Cuomo family continues to make headlines for behavior critics say depicts them as out of touch, Markowicz saved some of her outrage for the “fawning” media sources who feed their sense of entitlement. Many New Yorkers are sure to agree with her assessment that the rules “don’t apply” to this family of political elites.
