CIA chief says China is Putin’s “silent partner”

Much attention has been paid to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin since he ordered troops to invade neighboring Ukraine nearly two months ago.

However, a high ranking member of the Biden administration recently acknowledged that Putin has “a silent partner” in the form of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

According to Fox News, that admission was made by CIA Director William Burns on Thursday as he spoke at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

CIA head calls China a “formidable competitor”

Burns warned of “a more complicated and contested world, featuring the rise of an increasingly adversarial China and a pugnacious and revisionist Russia.”

While not overlooking the “immediate threat posed by renewed Russian aggression against Ukraine,” he argued that there is a “longer term problem posed by China’s ambitious leadership.”

Burns suggested that China represents “the single most important geopolitical challenge” of this century as it is a “formidable competitor lacking in neither ambition nor capability.”

“It seeks to overtake us in literally every domain, from economic strength to military power, and from space to cyberspace,” he said of the Asian power. Burns went on to insist that China is “intent” on supplanting the United States as “the preeminent power in the Indo-Pacific.”

What’s more, he stressed that an added danger comes from the collaboration between the Chinese government and its Russian counterpart.

Global strategist says Russia and China are strengthening ties

“A silent partner in Putin’s aggression, Xi Jinping’s China is our greatest challenge, in many ways the most profound test the CIA has ever faced,” Burns stated.

Burns is far from alone in suggesting that Xi Jinping is joining with Putin to face off against the United States; another is global strategist and Atlas Organization founder Dr. Jonathan D.T. Ward.

Ward told Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo earlier this month that “China is preparing for war with the United States and Asia, and if and when that happens, they want Russia as their partner on that date.”

He said the two regimes have “a joint idea of taking down the US-led order” and are “building their military relationship and having that underlying economic relationship.”
