Top House Dem Clyburn admits that everyone knew massive spending bills would result in price inflation

President Joe Biden, his media sycophants, and most Democrats have repeatedly insisted that their multi-trillions in unchecked government spending has not contributed to the soaring price inflation that has hampered the U.S. economy and made life extraordinarily costly and difficult for many American families.

Now one prominent Democratic House leader has completely undermined the stringent denials of Biden and others by essentially admitting that everybody knew the massive spending packages would result in higher inflation, The Washington Free Beacon reported.

That top Democrat is Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC), a major ally of President Biden who serves as House Majority Whip, and his unforced admission now vindicates the ignored warnings and concerns expressed by some Republicans who had worried about the likely negative fiscal consequences of dumping trillions of dollars into the volatile economy.

“All of us knew this would be the case”

Rep. Clyburn appeared Thursday on MSNBC, where he was asked by host Jose Diaz-Balart to respond to critics who’ve complained of Democrats bragging about their big accomplishments in Washington D.C. while many American families are struggling greatly with drastically increased prices for groceries and gas and other necessities.

“What do you say to people who say, ‘Boy, but Washington can talk about all these big programs and everything else, but I’m worried about the cost of food. I’m seeing the cost of eggs shoot up, chicken, gasoline, you know, coming now with the winter, the heating,'” the host said. “I mean, these are all concerns that hit very directly to people, who may say, you know, ‘what’s going on in DC doesn’t think of us?'”

“Well, let me make it very clear,” Clyburn replied. “All of us are concerned about these rising costs, and all of us knew this would be the case when we put in place this recovery program.”

“Any time you put more money into the economy, prices tend to rise,” he correctly added, echoing what many critics of the massive congressional spending have been hollering for the past two years.

The Free Beacon noted that Clyburn had voted in favor of the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan in 2021, which many economists and Republicans accurately predicted would cause more inflation, as well as the infuriatingly misnamed $738 billion Inflation Reduction Act, which economists and critics suggested would, at best, have no real meaningful impact on price inflation.

The outlet further pointed out that, at the time that the American Rescue Plan was passed along purely partisan lines, Clyburn, like virtually all other Democrats, had falsely insisted that the multi-trillion spending package would not have a negative impact on the economy or spur greater inflation.

Admission undermines Biden’s varied excuses and blame-shifting

PJ Media reported that Clyburn’s admission that “all of us knew” the congressional spending would result in higher inflation is a huge blow against President Biden and severely undercuts the president’s many varied attempts to shift the blame elsewhere for the skyrocketing prices the American people must now endure for virtually all goods and services.

Indeed, Biden has sought to blame price inflation on former President Donald Trump and prior Republican-led congresses, the COVID-19 pandemic, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and even supposedly greedy corporations — all of which likely contributed to inflation but are nowhere near as responsible for the current situation as Biden and his fellow Democrats are.
