The media may put on a pious front when it comes to racial issues, but their forward-thinking image appears to be based on lies and hypocrisy.
Behind the scenes at CNN, a top executive once mused that a prospective guest wasn’t the “right kind of black,” former network personality Soledad O’Brien now claims, according to the Washington Examiner.
O’Brien exposes hypocrisy
CNN, like the rest of the self-righteous liberal media, has encouraged the unrest sparked by the police killing of George Floyd — with hosts Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo even justifying mob violence in the name of anti-racism, at least in the eyes of White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany.
Peel back the woke exterior, though, and the network appears to be no purer than the supposed racists they claim to oppose.
On Monday, O’Brien, who worked at CNN for 10 years, claimed in an exchange on social media that an unnamed female executive told her not to book journalist Roland Martin because he was not the “right kind” of black guest. Charles Blow, a CNN contributor and opinion writer for The New York Times, on the other hand, was said to be “the right kind of black,” O’Brien was told.
“This is an interesting read. Reminds me of the CNN exec who told me: ‘Roland Martin isn’t the ‘right kind of’ Black person.’ She didn’t want me to book him on my show. L,” O’Brien tweeted.
Blow, in response, said, he was disturbed by the discussion of who and who does not make for a “good negro.”
The attitude alleged by O’Brien evokes the racial paternalism of Joe Biden’s recent “you ain’t black” moment, which critics took as a glimpse at the left’s (not so secretive) soft bigotry.
Media ignores own standards
Indeed, other recent events suggest that CNN is hardly alone in its racial hypocrisy.
O’Brien’s remarks about her former network were made in response to a Huffington Post article that accused ABC executive Barbara Fedida of making racially demeaning comments, including a remark that black anchor Robin Roberts, who complained about her contract, was not being asked to “pick cotton.” Fedida has been placed on leave while ABC investigates, according to Fox News.
Of course, the media establishment has accused roughly half the United States population of being “deplorable” and “racist” for roughly four years now, and that rhetoric has only gotten more vicious in recent weeks.
Is it really possible that those at the helm of these outlets are actually bigots themselves? Shocking.
