CNN producer resigns amid investigation into alleged sex crimes

After the public firing of primetime host Chris Cuomo, CNN is at the center of yet another controversy.

According to reports, a producer working for anchor Jake Tapper has resigned amid an investigation into alleged sex crimes involving minors.

“Serious allegations”

As Fox News reported, police in Fairfax County, Virginia, launched a criminal probe related to Rick Saleeby.

“While we will eventually be transparent about our findings, safeguarding the personal privacy and safety of victims and witnesses as well as maintaining the integrity of our criminal investigation are of paramount importance,” said an unidentified police spokesperson.

The investigation reportedly relates to “serious allegations involving potential juvenile victims” and involves “detectives assigned to the Child Exploitation Squad of the Major Crimes Bureau,” the source confirmed.

Such allegations were first publicized by the conservative group Project Veritas.

As that report asserted, “videos and texts” revealed that the CNN producer shared his fantasies “about sex acts with a child in graphic detail.”

More bad news for struggling network

Saleeby reportedly stepped down from his position at the cable news network earlier this month when his bosses became aware of the shocking claims against him.

It is worth noting that this is the second time within a month that a CNN staffer faced accusations of sex crimes. As the New York Post explained, Cuomo’s former producer John Griffin allegedly attempted to groom children as young as 7 for sexual abuse.

These two cases have amplified the negative press surrounding CNN, which has seen its ratings plummet in the months since former President Donald Trump left office.

Cuomo was fired after revelations surfaced that he worked closely with his brother, former Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, to defend against mounting sexual misconduct allegations. Fellow primetime CNN host Don Lemon has also faced serious allegations that he sexually assaulted a man at a bar in New York.
