According to the Daily Mail, on Monday, CNN reporter Clarissa Ward addressed the situation in Kabul, Afghanistan, and did her live shot while standing among Taliban supporters who can be heard chanting, “death to America,” while claiming that they seemed “friendly.”
“They’re just chanting ‘death to America,’ but they seem friendly at the same time. It’s utterly bizarre,” Ward said during her update — remarks that generated plenty of controversy afterward.
CNN REPORTER ON TALIBAN: “They’re just chanting ‘death to America,’ but they seem friendly at the same time.”
The same reporter then says the Taliban have a “welcoming spirit” as they wave rifles in the air.

Unsurprisingly, Ward was widely praised by some of her colleagues who noted her bravery for reporting under such circumstances. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), and some others, slammed Ward on social media. “Is there an enemy of America for whom CNN WON’T cheerlead? (In mandatory burkas, no less),” Cruz wrote.
“Panic and Chaos”
The New York Times posted another video on Monday that has now been widely spread across social media revealing the scene at Kabul’s airport.
“Scenes of panic and chaos played out at the airport in Kabul as crowds of people desperate to escape Afghanistan rushed onto the tarmac,” the report said.
“Some clung to the sides of planes, even as one taxied down the runway, in a bid to flee the Taliban,” the report added, referencing video footage of what appeared to be thousands of Afghans flooding the tarmac in a desperate attempt to flee their home country as the Taliban takes over.
Another major concern with President Joe Biden’s botched U.S. troop withdrawal is the abandonment of U.S. military weapons and equipment, including high-tech drones and other cutting-edge weapons that can significantly boost the Taliban’s battlefield capabilities.

The video showed an array of machines guns and ammunition reportedly and presumably salvaged from abandoned U.S. military outposts throughout the war-torn country. Several other videos of the Taliban appearing to show off a bounty of U.S. equipment have also circulated via social media.
“Billions in taxpayer funded military equipment in the hands of the Taliban, and the White House just admitted they have little idea where it is and no plan whatsoever to get it back. Just outrageous,” tweeted former Trump administration White House chief of staff Mark Meadows.
The shocking and rapid fall of Afghanistan comes as an embarrassment to Biden and his administration, and ultimately poses a great danger to America and other nations, as terrorist groups now have a new safe haven to call home.
