CNN’s viewership ratings hit rock bottom

Fox News reports that CNN, earlier this week, had one of its smallest weekday audiences in years.

Fox based its report on data from Neilsen Media Research. What that data shows is that, on Tuesday, June 14, CNN only managed to average about 393,000 viewers.

According to Fox, if one excludes Thanksgiving Day, this is the “smallest weekday audience” that CNN has seen since Nov. 2, 2015.

Fox further reports:

[CNN] had its least-viewed, non-Thanksgiving weekday during the hours of 9 a.m. through 5 p.m. when CNN’s daytime lineup managed only 489,000 average viewers. It was CNN’s worst performance in that category since Nov. 3, 2015.

Background

CNN has been dealing with poor television viewership ratings since the administration of former President Donald Trump. Trump predicted that far-left outlets like CNN, which, during his administration, focused almost entirely on negative coverage of him, would collapse without him, and Trump, at least so far, has been proven right.

2021 was a particularly bad year for CNN, both in terms of viewership and scandals.

Earlier this year, CNN was purchased by Warner Bros. Discovery, and Jeff Zucker was replaced by Chris Licht, who wants the network to focus more on news and less on leftwing propaganda.

2022, though, hasn’t been that much better than 2021 for CNN under this new leadership, as the latest viewership numbers show.

Some irony

Fox points out that CNN saw a massive ratings shift between Monday and Tuesday.

The outlet reports:

. . . Tuesday’s gloomy turnout came one day after the Jan. 6 committee spent Monday focused heavily on Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election results through litigation. CNN shed a staggering 43% of the 694,000 total viewers who tuned in on Monday when there was no hearing on Tuesday.

To reiterate, on Monday, during the House Jan. 6 committee’s hearing, CNN brought in 694,000 total viewers. But, just a day later, on Tuesday, when there was no hearing, the network lost 43% of those viewers.

What else is there to conclude other than that CNN lives and dies with Trump? The best thing for the outlet would be another Trump presidency, and, who knows, in 2024, the network might just have a resurgence, that is, if it makes it that long.
