New York Post columnist Michael Goodwin appears to have discovered a secret formula for President Joe Biden to succeed.
What is it?
In short, it is Biden’s basement strategy.
We all likely remember what happened in the 2020 presidential election: Biden somehow got elected after spending most of the campaign season in his basement.
Since then, Goodwin notes that Biden, as the leader of the United States, has enjoyed anything but success. This has been evidenced by his abysmal polling numbers, which have fallen all the way down to below, on average, 40%. He, in fact, remains there, according to Real Clear Politics – a whopping 17 percentage points underwater.
Things, though, suddenly changed for Biden recently, Goodwin points out.
Recently, Biden has enjoyed a relatively large amount of success. There is the latest jobs report, which shows that the U.S. economy added over 500,000 jobs in July, there is the so-called Inflation Reduction Act, which it looks like Democrats are going to be able to ram through Congress, there is the recent assassination of al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, and more.
As a result, Biden actually has scored above 40% on a recent Rasmussen poll, one of his best poll results in recent memory. Which begs the question: “what just happened?”
The secret formula
There are likely many answers to that question. But, according to Goodwin, one of the chief answers is “less Biden.” Goodwin points out that things only changed for Biden after he, in a sense, went back to his basement.
This time Biden has been in isolation as a result of his contraction of the coronavirus. Biden first came down with the coronavirus in mid-July. He went into isolation and began treatment.
Biden, then, briefly emerged from isolation after some negative COVID tests. But, he has been forced to return to isolation after coming down with a rebound case of COVID. Biden has been isolating ever since, and that’s when things changed.
Whether or not Goodwin is right about all of this remains to be seen. We’ll have to see what happens when Biden returns from isolation – if he ever does. But, it really does appear as though the Democrats are better off without Biden in the spotlight.
