Given his regular gaffes and bizarre behavior, President Joe Biden has long been suspected of suffering cognitive decline.
However, one New York Post columnist recently argued that while the media might pretend otherwise, Americans can see Biden’s mental state is something to worry about.
In a piece published this weekend, Karol Markowicz pointed to an incident last Thursday in which the president appeared to confuse his administration’s policy on masks with the situation along America’s southern border.
Fox News reported that Biden was asked by a reporter about whether his administration will end Title 42, a Trump-era policy which allows illegal migrants to be swiftly removed.
Markowicz noted how rather than addressing immigration, the president instead “started rambling” about how he will handle a federal judge’s decision to overturn the federal government’s transportation mask mandate.
“What I’m considering is continuing to hear from my — my — First of all, there’s gonna be an appeal by the Justice Department. Because as a matter of principle, we want to be able to be in a position where if, in fact, it is strongly concluded by the scientists that we need Title 42 that we’d be able to do that,” Biden said, adding, “But there has been no decision on extending Title 42.”
Markowicz pointed out that the president “isn’t simply misspeaking,” but instead “seems fully out of it, and we’re all watching quietly.”
It gets worse
The columnist noted that the incident was followed on Friday by another strange moment in which Biden reacted to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signing a bill that strips the Walt Disney Company of special privileges under Florida law.
“There’s nothing conservative about deciding you’re going to throw Disney out of its present posture because Mickey Mouse?” the president was quoted as saying.
“In fact, do you think we should be not be able to say, you know, ‘gay’? I mean, what’s going on here?” Biden added in what Markowicz called “a word salad.”
“It’s funny, sure, but it’s also kind of scary,” she complained, demanding, “Who is really running the show at the White House?”
“Grandpa sometimes wanders,” Markowicz acknowledged before adding, “The trouble is this confused grandpa has a bit more power than your own.”
