Late-night comedian makes ‘missing person’ jokes about VP Kamala Harris

Though most Americans probably haven’t even noticed, Vice President Kamala Harris hasn’t been seen in public much, if at all, over the past couple of weeks.

Now a late-night comedian has highlighted the apparent absence of the vice president by acting as though Harris had gone missing without a trace, the Conservative Brief reported.

The quip came from comedian Nikki Glaser, famous for roasting celebrities and fellow comedians on Comedy Central, who shifted her focus to roast politicians from the left and right for a bit on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” this week.

Where is Kamala Harris?

“Listen, I know we’re having fun right now, but on a serious note, I do want to say, Kamala Harris is still missing,” Glaser said of the vice president. “And if you have any information on her whereabouts, please contact her parents, they miss her — we don’t, but they do.”

“I have a theory though that we haven’t seen much of the vice president lately because she’s sentenced herself to jail,” the comedian continued. “I think she just missed the rush of putting an innocent person behind bars. Have you done it? It feels great.”

VP Harris has indeed been “missing” for the past couple of weeks, as her last public appearances, per the White House, were a pair of events at which she delivered remarks in Oakland, California on August 12 — though she has most likely simply been on a summer vacation along with most of the rest of Washington D.C.’s politicians.

As for the crack about putting innocent people behind bars, that was in reference to Harris’s undeniable history as an abusive and overzealous prosecutor during her tenures as San Francisco’s district attorney and California’s attorney general.

Hitting both sides

Glaser also made jokes about a few other prominent Democrats, such as President Joe Biden — “he’s so old — he had COVID-1” — and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) — “the embalmers did a really good job” — and a few others like Transportation Sec. Pete Buttigieg and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

Of course, she also made fun of several top Republicans, including former President Donald Trump, former Vice President Mike Pence, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), and Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Ted Cruz (R-TX), to name a few, but most of Glaser’s jokes were particularly raunchy and sex-related.

Just go ahead and remain on vacation

As noted, VP Harris has most likely not been highly visible for a while due to being on vacation through much of August, just as President Biden and many members of Congress have been for the past several weeks.

That said, given the vice president’s historically low and rather abysmal favorability ratings — she is highly unpopular with most Americans — it is possible that the White House has determined that it is better for everyone if Harris just keeps a low profile for a period of time.
