Yet another connection has been found between Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff, the man who is challenging Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) in the upcoming Senate runoff, and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
The Washington Free Beacon reports that Ossoff’s wealthy father once met with Chinese “dignitaries” on a yacht that he purchased from a Chinese shipbuilder whose company both supports and is supported by the CCP.
Here’s what we know about the incident:
The Free Beacon obtained the information used for its report from U.S. Coast Guard records. These records show that, in 2008, Jon Ossoff’s father, Richard Ossoff, commissioned Jet-Tern Marine, a China-based shipbuilding company, to build him a custom yacht.
Jet-Tern Marine completed the build, and then a “sea trial” was held for “customers Heather and Richard Ossoff.” It was on this “sea trial” that the couple met “many” Chinese dignitaries.
The Free Beacon quotes a press release on the event, which read, “The Selene 1519 sea trial was attended by the customers, many dignitaries from Pingsha and Zhuhai, the press, the Deputy Governor, the Bureau Chief, and the editor of China Boating magazine.”
This press release has since been deleted. It is not clear who exactly these “dignitaries” were.
We do have more information, however, on the shipbuilding company, Jet-Tern Marine, which is located in Zhuhai and Dongguan, China.
The company’s owner is Howard Chen, and Chen is a known supporter of the CCP. Chen has openly praised the CCP and he has written about the praise that his company has received in return from the CCP, the Beacon reported.
Just in 2019, the Chinese Ministry of Information and Technology decided to name Jet-Tern Marine as one of the companies for which it intends to “increase support for the design and manufacturing of yachts” and to “vigorously promote the development of the domestic yacht equipment industry.” The ministry also said that Jet-Tern Marine would get to participate in “scientific research with relevant departments of the state.”
Richard Ossoff submitted a customer testimonial to Jet-Tern Marine, which showed that he was very happy with the company. “I’m pleased to say that our experience so far has been outstanding,” he wrote.
Where’s the transparency?
This is just the latest connection that has been found to exist between the Jon Ossoff family and the CCP. Another report recently found that Ossoff’s foreign film company had received, over the past two years, upwards of $5,000 from PCCW Media Limited, a Hong Kong-based company with ties to the CCP. Ossoff kept this quiet until July, which was after the Georgia Senate primary.
Perdue, Ossoff’s opponent in the Senate runoff, has quite rightly stated, “Jon Ossoff has a China problem.”
