COVID-restricted California’s new case rate double free Florida’s

In an ironic twist that should have liberal petty tyrants questioning the efficacy of masks and vaccine mandates, uber-restricted California now has twice the rate of new COVID-19 cases as Florida, where restrictions and mandates are much rarer.

Ali H. Mokdad, professor of health metrics sciences at the University of Washington said it was “weird” that Californians are not “reaping more reward for their adherence to health guidance.”

The state is now in a “red” or high level of transmission despite mask and vaccine requirements, while Texas and Florida have dropped to “orange” despite no vaccine or mask mandates.

California had a lower rate of delta variant cases over the summer, but seems to be getting hit now.

Not protected

Sixty-two percent of California’s total population is now fully vaccinated against the virus, compared to 60% in Florida and 54% in Texas.

But all of California’s draconian restrictions have not protected it from another wave of infections, it seems.

Governor Gavin Newsom (D) and other officials think their restrictions will keep the virus away, but in truth vaccines and masks cannot do much against a constantly mutating virus that seems determined to infect everyone before it finally dies out, if it ever does.

COVID-19 is doing what it was made to do–surviving despite civilization’s best efforts to kill it.

New facts

Democrats from Newsom to President Joe Biden have been pressuring and trying to force everyone to get the vaccine and wear masks, but new studies show that those measures are not even close to preventing all cases.

Mask studies show that the simple cloth masks most people wear only keep out three to 10% of virus particles, and vaccines are showing drastic declines in effectiveness against infection after only six months.

In fact, monoclonal antibodies are now beating vaccines in effectiveness, with a high efficacy rate for at least eight months that does not decline.

Boosters remain optional for now, which means that those who were vaccinated back in January can claim preferred status in places like California even though they don’t really have much protection from the virus at this point.

No wonder cases keep rising. It’s time to admit that this is a virus and that human intervention really can’t do a whole lot.
