COVID-19 deaths drop to lowest level in more than a year Sunday

In a signal that the pandemic may really be nearing its end, the number of recorded deaths from COVID-19 dropped to its lowest level in over a year Sunday.

Only 222 deaths were attributed to the coronavirus on Sunday, down from 676 on Saturday and from a seven-day average of 804 deaths per day for the previous seven days, according to statistics from Johns Hopkins.

It was the lowest number of deaths recorded from the virus since March 23, 2020, when there were 192 deaths. At that time, the virus was just beginning to gain a foothold in the U.S., and within less than a month, there were over two thousand deaths per day in the U.S. on average.

Cases up slightly as deaths keep falling

Deaths have been steadily dropping since the peak of a wave over the holidays as millions per day are being vaccinated against the virus, especially the elderly and vulnerable as well as first responders.

The seven-day rolling average is close to the plateau last fall between a summer wave and the most recent one in December and January.

New case numbers have risen slightly over the past month as states have reopened and people have gone back to work and school, but many of these cases are younger people who don’t have much risk of death or hospitalization from the virus.

The numbers are consistent with an increasingly vaccinated elderly population and a younger population that senses it is safer to resume normal activities.

Reported deaths will likely be higher for some days during the coming week because reporting is slower on weekends, but the downward trend is likely to continue as close to three million people per day are now receiving vaccinations against the virus.

Vaccinations effective

Recent studies have found that fully vaccinated people have almost no chance of dying from the virus and that they transmit it as much lower rates, up to 90% lower in some cases, than those who have not been vaccinated.

Forty percent of adults in the U.S. have now received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 25% are fully vaccinated.

A Friday Wall Street Journal editorial made the case that if deaths from the virus continue to decrease at current levels, they will drop lower than average flu deaths by Memorial Day. At that point, writer Nicole Saphier posits, it doesn’t make sense to keep wearing masks and social distancing.

After all, we never did that for the flu, did we?

  1. Nicole Saphier is correct about the mask issue. I agree with her & her article 100%. Very good read

  2. It is NOT because of the “vaccines” the death rate dropped. It’s due to the lowering of cycles in the faulty PCR test, which promoted this “virus” all along.

    1. The experimental mRNA gene therapy pretend vaccines have no ability to immunize, thus Dr. Fraudi’s insistence on wearing double masks and continuing to distance. It’s all about controlling the sheeple. I saw a family of six, four kids from about 2 to 10, plus parents, ALL wearing double masks and face shields, at an airport in Texas this past Monday. I was surprised they didn’t bleat “baa, baa” as they filed through the line. Talk about buying the democRAT lies!!! The entire thing has been a debacle. But now that the numbers are tapering down, watch Captain Demento crow about how HE ended the pandemic.

      1. I sprinkle a little powdered garlic on my food almost every day and haven’t had a cold or the flu since except one time I got a cold, I went without garlic for about 4 or 5 days, garlic will be depleted out of your body in 3 to 4 days, so you need a little almost every other day to be protected, it kills the cold, and flu viruses, and will kill the corona virus too, a container of powdered garlic should last a family about a year that’s how little you use, had colds and the flu for about 40 years, until I read about garlic, in the Sun magazine, wished my mom knew about garlic, then I wouldn’t. of had to suffer for so long. If you have coronavirus, have some hot chicken noodle soup, it dries up your sinuses, for breathing.

  4. Just wait. Because of Biden releasing these illegal that have tested positive for COVID, the numbers will start going up again. It’s all part of their (the democrats) plan to hijack the upcoming elections again and possibly the 2024 elections.

    1. Since Biden is taking credit for the vaccine and its success, he doesn’t dare tell us it isn’t working. And if the numbers go up, he will be blamed for the increase due to his border policy. The numbers might go up but we won’t be told the truth – they will blame it on something else like the flu or whatever else they come up with. We have been lied to by China, WHO, CDC, big pharma, the media, our own government, and even, in some cases, our own doctors. All we have left to believe in is ourselves. Do your research but ultimately trust in your own gut feelings!

  5. Well I am fully Vaccinated and my wife has had her 1st shot Will have the 2nd at the end of the month. I still wear my mask when going into places that say mask required.

  6. The Left isn’t finished! Virus cases may be dropping. However, The Lefty has another plan. They are not through just yet! The next designer virus may just be the Ebola!

They are putting out mild hints that some Ebola victims have been found here in our Country. True to their modus operandi, the Left always produce some form of low key advance warning. Then, bang! We get the double barreled danger. I hope I’m wrong in this! But we must be on the alert!
So again, will it be that aggressors will once more be our imitation saviors, again? Will they magicly create a new weaponized antiviral solution in record time, designed to slowly kill us?
