Columnist says Fauci’s credibility ‘died eons ago,’ implores media to do their jobs

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and longtime adviser to the White House on the coronavirus, has already made headlines for appearing to make misleading claims to the American people.

Now, a columnist for Townhall is citing remarks made by the doctor U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) about so-called “gain-of-function” research on coronaviruses in Wuhan, China in claiming that Fauci may soon be exposed as “a huge liar” — that is, if those in the mainstream media do “their jobs.”

“Fauci is adrift like Joe Biden, albeit he can string sentences together,” Matt Vespa wrote Thursday for Townhall. “Yet, this man’s credibility died eons ago and if the media did their jobs — he wouldn’t be on television spewing science fiction.”

Documented evidence

As Vespa noted, The Intercept had filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit that resulted in the outlet obtaining more than 900 pages of documents related to work done by EcoHealth Alliance — a private, U.S.-based medical organization funded by NIAID grants — in conjunction with the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Some of the documents were said to detail work done with bat-borne viruses — which is what COVID-19 is purported to be — not just at the WIV, but also at the Wuhan University Center for Animal Experiments, where studies involving “humanized mice” were reportedly done in the hopes of measuring the impact of viruses on humans.

In his column, Vespa argues that the documents also make clear that that U.S. taxpayer funding went toward gain-of-function research in China — and it reportedly continues to this day.

Lying under oath?

Vespa also tied the revelations from The Intercept to reporting published in May by RedState that called into question statements made by Fauci during a Senate hearing.

Pressed by Sen. Paul, Fauci adamantly and repeatedly denied any involvement in or knowledge of gain-of-function research being funded by the U.S. taxpayer. But the reports continue to provide evidence to the contrary — and pundits like Vespa aren’t willing to let Fauci off the hook.

“And this isn’t the only time this has happened obviously,” the Townhall contributor wrote Thursday. “Fauci’s emails revealed many things, including how store-bought masks don’t do much if anything concerning curbing the spread of the virus.”

Sadly, “no one will know about” these transgressions, Vespa writes, because major media outlets aren’t publishing them. It’s the cover-up of the century, if true, and it’s not looking like it will be ending any time soon.

“Fauci lied again”

As journalists sleep on the job, Republicans including Sen. Paul are doing their best to get the word out.
