A number of controversial, “woke” progressive ideas have, unfortunately, recently been woven into the ranks of the U.S. military, and at least one Republican lawmaker is sick and tired of it.
According to Breitbart, Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), a former U.S. Navy SEAL, expressed concern over several examples of radically progressive training activities taking place on U.S. military bases, especially with regard to a rise in questionable race and sensitivity exercises.
What’s going on?
Crenshaw, along with fellow military veteran Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), recently set up a whistleblower website where members of the military can submit examples of the left’s “woke” activities being incorporated into their ranks. That website has been live for roughly a month, and, so far, Crenshaw says over 400 credible submissions have been received.
In a recent Instagram post, the Texas Republican shared one of the submissions with his followers, which involves a situation that took place at Fort Bliss, located in Crenshaw’s home state of Texas.
According to Crenshaw, soldiers at Fort Bliss have been forced to participate in activities that include the donning of badges that list their race, ethnicity, social class, and similar information — a practice with which Crenshaw was clearly unhappy.
“Reducing service members to a list of identity groups based on race, ethnicity, or socio-economic status has nothing to do with their service or training,” Crenshaw wrote. “This doesn’t help strengthen a unit. It weakens it severely and it must stop.”
“The only thing that should be on a soldier’s uniform is their name, their rank, and, most importantly, the American flag,” the former U.S. Navy SEAL added. “Yes, we are all individuals and we’re all different. The military requires us to put aside those differences and focus on one mission as one team, not highlight differences.
“It must stop”
Crenshaw has said that he plans on continuing to share examples like the one from Fort Bliss on his Instagram page. He has already shared several submissions to date.
In another example, which reportedly took place at the Florida-based Patrick Air Force Base, Crenshaw revealed that troops were asked to “experience and share a significant emotional event” in which they recognized their “privilege” and “racism.” Crenshaw added, “according to the report, this was explicitly targeted towards white students and particularly white males.”
Extending the list of examples included another disturbing situation that reportedly unfolded at Moody Air Force Base in Georgia. Crenshaw revealed that U.S. military members were forced to do a “privilege walk.” Crenshaw reports an airman as saying, “If you are white, take a step forward. If you are a male, take a step forward. And so on through every possible point of privilege one might have, according to their intersectional hierarchy.”
In his statement concerning the Fort Bliss situation, Crenshaw argued that “this type of woke training doesn’t help strengthen a unit,” but rather “weakens it severely.”
Accordingly, Crenshaw added, “it must stop.”
