Philadelphia crowd stomps on Trump doll as Biden calls for unity: Report

Triumphant Biden supporters filled city streets over the weekend to celebrate — and act out violent fantasies toward President Donald Trump and his supporters — after the media declared that Trump lost the presidential election.

Even as former Vice President Joe Biden called for “unity,” a large crowd of his supporters in Philadelphia took turns beating up an effigy of the president, Breitbart reported.

Biden supporters attack Trump doll

Biden supporters can be seen in a video posted to Twitter kicking and stomping on a doll with Trump’s face as a huge crowd stands by and cheers.

“It’s disturbing because symbolic violence leads to actual violence,” noted historian Daniel Pipes, who shared a clip of the celebration.

He reported that around 1,000 people “milled about [Philadelphia City Hall] this afternoon, centered around a cone-shaped pillow-like item bearing Trump’s face. People ritualistically kicked, slammed, and punched it to much applause,” he added.

It was just one scene in a mocking display that erupted Saturday on social media and in urban centers around the country. The gleeful tone of many Biden supporters clashed harshly with the solemn note sought by Biden himself, as he spoke of “healing” and bringing Americans together. “It’s time for us to come together as a nation to heal. It’s not going to be easy, we have to try,” Biden said Saturday, according to Breitbart.

Trump remains defiant

The scene in Philadelphia was mild compared to the riots that many anticipated before Election Day, as business owners in many cities boarded up their windows presumably preparing for a Trump victory.

Many Trump supporters say that things would look much different if news outlets declared Trump the winner, pointing to a summer of far-left chaos that exploded across the country.

With news outlets calling the race for Biden, Trump supporters have gathered to protest voter fraud but have remained peaceful. Many are clinging to hopes that the election’s results will be reversed when the courts have had their say.

For his part, Trump has vowed to not concede the race until all votes have been carefully scrutinized in critical battleground states that Biden putatively won by a hair.
