Cuccinelli suggests federal agents sue Pelosi over comparison to Nazi ‘stormtroopers’

As rioters continue their attacks on a federal court house in Portland, Oregon, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) likened the federal agents assigned to defend it to Nazi “stormtroopers.”

However, acting Department of Homeland Security Deputy Secretary Ken Cuccinelli made clear during a recent interview that Pelosi’s “libelous, slanderous” statements should not be allowed to go unchecked, as Breitbart reported.

Cuccinelli fights back

Cuccinelli appeared on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle on Friday to discuss the ongoing unrest in Portland and Pelosi’s commentary, saying “The Speaker of the House knows that she’s using Nazi allusions to refer to correct professional law enforcement officers.”

He continued, “The Speaker of the House knows that she’s using Nazi allusions to refer to correct professional law enforcement officers. If I was a CBP agent, if I was an ICE agent, if I was an FPS agent, I might just sue her for libel.”

Cuccinelli’s remarks were in apparent reference to a tweet that Pelosi posted on July 17 in which she called federal law enforcement personnel “stormtroopers” — a nickname given to the Nazi Party’s paramilitary wing.

What’s more, Fox News quoted House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) as accusing federal agents of engaging in “Gestapo activities,” referring to Nazi Germany’s infamous secret police force.

“That kind of activity is the activity of a police state, and this president and this attorney general seem to be doing everything they possibly can to impose Gestapo activities in local communities, and that is what I have been warning about for a long time,” Clyburn told CNN last week, according to Fox.

“This mob is out for blood”

In addition to condemning the Democrats’ rhetoric, Cuccinelli also directed harsh words towards the violent rioters that police and federal agents have had to confront.

“This mob is out for blood,” he said, according to Breitbart. “They are not there to protect the First Amendment or to exercise first amendment rights. We all respect those people.” The acting secretary also drew a historical parallel of his own by likening Portland’s violent mob to “bloodthirsty Bolsheviks.”

Fox News reported this week that at least three members of the Federal Protective Service may have suffered lasting vision loss due to rioters pointing laser devices in their direction.

“When officers responded to put out these fires, glass bottles were thrown and lasers – which can cause permanent blindness – were shined in their eyes,” said Federal Protective Service (FPS) Deputy Director of Operations Richard “Kriss” Cline, adding, “We have three officers who currently have eye injuries and they may not recover sight in those eyes from those laser attacks.”

That Pelosi and her colleagues are so swift to take the side of lawlessness over those attempting to restore order in America’s cities is surely disappointing, but it is also not terribly surprising.
