Photos and dashcam footage reveal Paul Pelosi DUI crash worse than initial reports indicated

Paul Pelosi, husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), was arrested for driving under the influence after being involved in a car accident on May 28, and since that time the severity of the accident and level of Pelosi’s drunkenness was substantially downplayed in much of the media.

Newly released dashcam footage and photos from the scene reveal that the entire incident was much more serious than initial reports suggested, however, the Daily Wire reported.

The photos showed that both vehicles in the incident had suffered extensive damage and the dashcam video showed that Pelosi was too intoxicated to successfully perform certain field sobriety tests.

Pelosi too drunk to perform field sobriety tests

TMZ first obtained the pictures of the May 28 crash scene released by the California Highway Patrol that, contrary to initial reports suggesting a minor fender bender, showed that both Paul Pelosi’s Porsche, which appears to have plowed through a wooden fence alongside a vineyard, and the other man’s Jeep were effectively totaled due to substantial damage.

The rear end of Pelosi’s Porsche was heavily damaged, which matches the initial reports that the Jeep had struck the Porsche, but is also indicative that Pelosi may have pulled out in front of the Jeep and been at fault for the accident.

The outlet further noted that the dashcam footage showed a clearly intoxicated Pelosi insistent upon attempting to perform a variety of field sobriety tests instead of blowing into a breathalyzer machine, even as it was readily apparent that he was utterly incapable of maintaining his balance in order to complete those tests.

In fact, the officer overseeing the tests repeatedly expressed his concern that Pelosi might lose his balance and fall, potentially injuring himself, if he persisted in unsuccessfully attempting to perform the field tests.

Sentenced to time served and probation plus fines

The Daily Wire reported that Paul Pelosi, who later was registered with a blood-alcohol content level of .082 percent — just slightly above the .08 percent maximum — faced sentencing on Tuesday after having been found guilty of one count of driving under the influence and causing injury.

The driver of the Jeep, a man named Jesus Lopez, had complained of pain in his right arm, shoulder, and neck, as well as severe headaches, in the days following the accident.

Napa County Superior Court Judge Joseph Solga ordered Pelosi to serve five days in jail, but gave him two days of credit for time served for the few hours during which he was processed before being bailed out the next morning, plus two days credit for good behavior, and waived the fifth day of jail if Pelosi will instead complete an eight-hour work program.

Pelosi will also be placed on probation for three years, pay various fines and penalties, attend a three-month DUI class, and have a breathalyzer ignition lock device installed on his vehicles to ensure he doesn’t drive drunk again.
