Dean Norris of ‘Breaking Bad’ tells those complaining about gas prices to ‘STFU’

Breitbart News reports that Dean Norris, the actor known for his roles in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, just told Americans complaining about the outrageous gas prices to “stfu” — and, we all know what profanity that stands for.

That, of course, is an easy thing to say for someone with a net worth of $5 million.

Norris made the statement in a Twitter message that he posted on Wednesday, June 15.

He wrote:

Youre not getting “robbed” at the pump. You’re paying fair market price for a commodity. If you love Capitalism so much then stfu.

So, in Norris’ mind, you can’t be in favor of capitalism and complain about high gas prices at the same time. The two are mutually exclusive, apparently.

According to Breitbart, it’s not the first time that Norris made this statement, either. He also said it in March, which would suggest that he really believes it.

The only problem, though, is that it’s based on faulty logic.

What Norris is missing

In short, it is that one can legitimately be a true capitalist while complaining about the exorbitant oil and gas prices – particularly when the exact opposite of capitalism is what is driving the energy prices up.

It was about a week ago that gas reached a national average of $5 per gallon. The average has now dropped below $5. But it still remains at record-high levels, and there has been much debate about how we got here.

President Joe Biden and his administration have blamed everything and everyone but themselves. From the coronavirus pandemic to the Russia/Ukraine conflict, to big oil. There is little doubt that some of these factors have played a role.

However, it is only by willful blindness that one can overlook the role that Biden, himself, has played in the energy crisis. It began on day one when he canceled the Keystone XL pipeline project, and it has only continued since with his refusal to allow oil and gas production to take place here in the U.S.

So, contrary to what Norris says, one can be a capitalist and complain about energy prise precisely because Biden and the U.S. government — not the free market — are a large part of the reason why the prices are as high as they are. In other words, keep complaining — especially at the ballot box this November.
