Dem strategist tells Americans to ‘eat Chef Boyardee’ to combat inflation

Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY) was just caught on video suggesting to New Yorkers that they “eat Chef Boyardee” to deal with their inflation struggles.

Telling people what they ought to eat in order to deal with their inflation woes can’t be a winning strategy from Maloney, the Democrat Campaign Chief.

The video

Maloney’s comment came during an interview that he did in October with Halston Media Productions.

There, the host asked Maloney this:

Hudson Valley residents are feeling pain at the pump and at grocery stores. What have you done and what do you plan to do to help solve our inflation problems?

Maloney responded:

Yeah, well, I grew up in a family where, you know, if the gas price went up, the food budget went down. So by this time of the week, we’d be eating Chef Boyardee if that budget wasn’t gonna change. So that’s what families have to do.

Maloney then, later in the interview, went on to praise such things as the Democrats’ so-called Inflation Reduction Act as well as President Joe Biden’s decision to release millions of barrels of oil from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve in order to try to bring the price of gas and oil down.

But, the bottom line is that Maloney appears to have no concrete plan to deal with inflation, just vague ideas. And, in the meantime, the people just have to deal with it and, apparently, change their eating habits.

“Out of touch”

Maloney, a five-term representative, is facing a serious challenge in the midterm elections from Republican Mike Lawler.

The Cook Political Report has recently changed its rating for New York’s 17th Congressional District, the one that Maloney and Lawler are fighting over, from “lean Democrat” to “toss-up.” The polls do appear to be trending in Lawler’s favor.

Accordingly, there is a very real chance that Maloney’s run could be coming to an end.

Lawler has attempted to capitalize on Maloney’s Chef Boyardee solution to inflation, saying:

Sean Maloney’s solution to tackling inflation is: let them eat Chef Boyardee! It shows just how out of touch he is work [sic] the struggles of seniors, working families, and those in need of assistance. Voters understand the only way to fix it, is to fire the very politicians who have created this mess in the first place, which is why Sean Maloney will lose on Election Day!

It is just days before we’ll find out whether Lawler is right.
