Democrat Ed Buck sentenced to 30 years in prison for causing deaths of two gay men

Top Democratic donor Ed Buck has been sentenced to thirty years in prison for fatally drugging two gay men at his West Hollywood drug den.

The disgraced ally to Hillary Clinton, who would lure Black men to have sex with him using meth, had been found guilty of causing his victims to overdose, The Daily Wire reports.

Dem donor sentenced

The penalty is the equivalent of a life sentence for the 67-year-old donor, who was convicted in July on nine counts for causing the 2017 and 2019 deaths, respectively, of Gemmel Moore, 26, and Timothy Dean, 55.

His two convictions for distributing controlled substances resulting in death had mandatory minimum sentences of 20 years. Prosecutors had sought a life sentence, while his lawyers asked for less than 25, saying it “would be much preferable to relegating him to death in prison.”

Buck’s lawyer argued that Buck engaged in consensual sex with male prostitutes, but the state said that he took advantage of poor, Black men with drug habits to satisfy his sick cravings.

The case electrified activist groups like Black Lives Matter (BLM), which argued that Buck was being protected by white privilege.

Buck was arrested in September 2019 after he allegedly almost killed a third man, Dane Brown, who told the court that Buck refused to call 911 after Brown overdosed twice.

LGBT activist, Dem supporter

Before his fall from grace, Buck was a prominent supporter of Democrats like Hillary Clinton. The wealthy donor, who is gay, was also a big supporter of LGBT rights.

Buck protested in court that he was the victim of sexual abuse as a child, and he denied responsibility for the deaths of Moore and Dean, saying he loved both men.

But Judge Christina A. Snyder reprimanded Buck for his “horrific” actions — although she weighed them against what she called the good work he had done in the political world.

Dean’s sister Joyce Jackson expressed relief at the sentencing, which she said had proved that even “white Democratic donors” are not above the law.

“Our lives matter, our community matters, and just because someone is unhoused, an addict, may be a survival sex worker, or an escort, or HIV positive does not mean their lives don’t matter and we should look the other way when they show up dead in a white Democratic donor’s home.”
