Democrats say Biden will face a primary challenge if he runs again

Given the growing signs of President Joe Biden’s mental decline and ongoing legal questions surrounding his son, many have questioned whether or not Biden will even be in the White House come 2024.

Yet even if he is, some members of his party say that the president should expect a revolt in the primaries.

Party operative says the president “will be challenged”

That’s according to a report published by The Hill on Wednesday. Among the people it cited was Democratic operative Michael Starr Hopkins, someone who was once all in for Biden.

“People went into his first term thinking it would be the left that would be the ones that would cause trouble and make his life more difficult, but instead it’s the moderates, the people he’s supposed to know the best,” Starr Hopkins was quoted as saying.

“Progressives have really carried the water for him and have really been an ally in a way that I think most people wouldn’t have expected,” the party activist continued.

“He owes a lot of his political victories to the left,” Starr Hopkins insisted, adding that Biden “will be challenged” should he seek a second term.

Biden is much less popular among Democrats than Trump was with Republicans

Breitbart writer Wendell Husebo also noted in a piece on Wednesday that polling data suggests the president is in worse shape with Democrats than his predecessor ever was with Republicans.

According to surveys conducted by Reuters and Ipsos, Biden’s popularity among members of his own party has consistently trended downward, currently standing at 77%.

In contrast, a graph published by the University of Texas at Austin shows former President Trump’s approval rating among Republicans was typically well above 80% and climbed to 90% percent just before the 2020 election.

Although Trump’s approval rating did dip down to 78% in October of 2017, that figure proved to be an anomaly as popularity quickly rebounded.

However, The Hill acknowledged that it is far from clear who is in a position to face off against the president. The website pointed out that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez “has not taken the covert preliminary steps that normally indicate an interest in running.”

Meanwhile, it observed that other prominent left-wing personalities like Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren are considered by some to be too old to run.
