Disney corporate affairs chief out after just three months at company

Walt Disney Company chief corporate affairs officer Geoff Morrell is leaving his role after just three months, according to an email he sent to his colleagues.

Fox Business addressed the announcement in a report on Friday.

The statement

“After three months in this new role, it has become clear to me that for a number of reasons it is not the right fit,” Morrell wrote.

“After talking this over with Bob, I have decided to leave the company to pursue other opportunities,” he added.

Fox Business noted: “Morrell previously served as Pentagon press secretary under former President Bush and former President Obama before joining BP America as its head of communications in 2011.”

The issue

Disney has faced intense recent controversy following its response to Florida’s new Parental Rights in Education law.

The law bans teaching about gender identity and sexual orientation in the state’s Kindergarten through third grades. Disney angered many by opposing the law, while some Disney employees were upset the company did not do more to oppose it.

The controversy has resulted in fallout on many sides. A growing number of parents are saying they’re done with Disney’s radical views.

The Florida government is working to pass legislation to end Disney’s self-governing status in areas where the company’s amusement parks are built.

The PR nightmare has served as a strong contrast with Florida as a state. The Sunshine State excelled throughout the pandemic and ranks as an economic leader.

Morrell’s departure shows the controversies are rocking the staff of Disney’s top leaders as well as many Americans hope that the company will refocus on traditional children’s programming and entertainment, rather than progressive, woke politics.
