Breitbart News reports that former President Donald Trump on Friday took a “victory lap” after the U.S. Supreme Court released the decision in which it overturned Roe v. Wade.
Roe is the landmark abortion case in which the Supreme Court discovered in the U.S. Consitution a woman’s so-called right to have an abortion. The Supreme Court tossed that holding on Friday returning the controversial issue back to state legislatures.
The three justices that Trump nominated to the court – Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett – were vital to overturning Roe.
The final vote tally was 6–3, with all three of Trump’s nominees voting in favor of overturning Roe.
Trump, after the Supreme Court’s decision, released a statement in celebration.
“Today’s decision, which is the biggest WIN for LIFE in a generation, along with other decisions that have been announced recently, were only made possible because I delivered everything as promised, including nominating and getting three highly respected and strong Constitutionalists confirmed to the United States Supreme Court,” Trump said.
It was my great honor to do so! I did not cave to the Radical Left Democrats, their partners in the Fake News Media, or the RINOs who are likewise the true, but silent, enemy of the people. These major Victories prove that even though the Radical Left is doing everything in their power to destroy our Country, your Rights are being protected, the Country is being defended, and there is still hope and time to Save America! I will never stop fighting for the Great People of our Nation!
Later in the day, Trump participated in a Fox News interview in which he said that “God made the decision.”
It was predictable, given what we have seen from the radical left in the past, that if the Supreme Court overturns Roe, “protests,” similar to the ones seen during the summer of 2020, could break out. And, this is what is happening.
Democrat leaders are giving the false impression that the Supreme Court outlawed abortion, which, in large part, is driving these so-called protests.
The court, of course, did not outlaw abortion. Rather, it put the power to determine the legality of abortion in the hands of the people via their state legislatures.
Trump, on Friday, expressed his opinion that, “in the end,” the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe will be “something that will work out for everybody.”
