In stark contrast to the prior presidency, it seems at times like there are only a few members of the White House press corps who are working to actually elicit answers and accountability from the Biden administration.
One of those few is Fox News reporter Peter Doocy, and he proved his mettle once again Thursday by pushing back against White House press secretary Jen Psaki over the administration’s absurd and infuriating words of apparent praise for the Taliban in Afghanistan, RedState reported.
“Businesslike and professional”
At issue for Doocy was a statement released by the White House that complimented the Taliban for its “businesslike and professional” behavior in allowing a plane of Westerners, including an unknown number of Americans, to fly out of Kabul on a Qatar Airways flight.
National Security Council (NSC) spokeswoman Emily Horne expressed in a Thursday morning statement how “deeply grateful” the administration was to Qatar for the role it played in facilitating the exit of the flight from the Taliban-controlled airport in the capital city.
As for the Taliban, Horne said they “have been cooperative” in allowing the flight to leave, and “they have shown flexibility, and they have been businesslike and professional in our dealings with them in this effort. This is a positive first step.”
Doocy vs. Psaki
Later in the day, during the daily press briefing, Doocy asked Psaki to explain why the White House had chosen “businesslike and professional” as descriptors for the Taliban, a barbaric terrorist organization.

“We wanted to note that the Taliban was cooperative in facilitating the departure of these American citizens and legal permanent presidents” from Kabul, was her reply, followed by a claim that the administration was keeping the promises made by President Joe Biden to get anybody out of Afghanistan that wanted to leave.
“But you’re saying the Taliban is ‘businesslike and professional,'” Doocy fired back. “Their Interior Minister has an FBI Wanted poster. He’s got a $10 million bounty on his head. That’s — what’s the business?”
Psaki gets mad
With a flash of anger and condescension, Psaki replied, “We are here to celebrate the return of American citizens who wanted to leave Afghanistan” and were extricated on the Qatari flight.
She added, “And in order to get those people out, we had to work with some members of the Taliban to press them and to work in a businesslike manner to get them out. That is what we were stating in the statement.”
Doocy then referenced the “positive first step” line of the NSC statement and asked, “Towards what?” Before moving on to the next reporter, Psaki flippantly replied, “Towards getting additional people out who want to leave Afghanistan.”
