In yet another bizarre White House moment, President Joe Biden was taken away from a foreign policy discussion this week by someone wearing an Easter Bunny costume.
It made for another embarrassing video showcasing the U.S. president’s obvious cognitive challenges.
“Oh, the Easter Bunny!”
According to Fox News, the scene played out on Monday during the annual White House Easter Egg Roll as Biden spoke with reporters.
Former political adviser Thomas C. Dillon tweeted out a short video clip in which Biden can be heard commenting on Afghanistan and Pakistan before someone off camera remarked, “Oh, the Easter Bunny!”

The costumed individual then placed his or her hands on the president and began to wave before directing Biden to walk in another direction.
Easter Bunny running things
Although Fox News stated that the identity of whoever was wearing the Easter Bunny costume has not been confirmed, New York Post reporter Steven Nelson suggested it was White House messaging director Meghan Hays.
“The Easter Bunny who censored Biden’s attempt to answer a reporter’s question today seems to be Meghan Hays, who has gotten much of the blame from reporters for poor WH press access,” Nelson tweeted.
Hays went on to tweet out an image showing her removing the costume’s bunny head as she stood alongside the president and first lady Jill Biden.

The incident led to much mockery among Biden’s critics; conservative commentator Ben Shapiro joked the following day on his podcast that “the Easter Bunny, not Joe Biden, is running the country.”
This was not the first time that the president appears to have been limited in his interaction with the press by staff members. During a press conference last August on his disastrous decision to withdraw from Afghanistan, Biden began by telling reporters that he had been “instructed” to call on certain individuals.
