Election interference: Zuckerberg says FBI asked Facebook to censor Hunter Biden laptop story

During an interview with top podcaster Joe Rogan, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted that the FBI asked him to censor the Hunter Biden laptop story and told him it was Russian disinformation when in fact they knew it was legitimate because of their ongoing investigation which included the laptop.

“Basically, the background here is the FBI, I think, basically came to us, some folks on our team, and was like, ‘Hey, just so you know, like, you should be on high alert… We thought that there was a lot of Russian propaganda in the 2016 election. We have it on notice that, basically, there’s about to be some kind of dump of that’s similar to that. So just be vigilant,” Zuckerberg relayed to Rogan during the interview.

Both Fox News’ Tucker Carlson and Mollie Hemingway seized on the revelation as evidence that the FBI interfered in the 2020 election.

Not as bad as Twitter

Zuckerberg tried to justify the platform’s action to algorithmically censor the laptop story by the New York Post by saying that his platform didn’t just flat-out prevent people from sharing the story like Twitter did.

“What Twitter did is that you can’t share this at all. We didn’t do that,” he said.

But without support from the algorithm, most people didn’t see the story on Facebook, with the platform effectively suppressing it on behalf of the Democrat party and the FBI.

“Not to put too a fine a point on it, but when you’re censoring information because the men with guns from the government are telling you to do it, that is the federal government using Facebook as a state actor to censor information,” PJ Media’s Victoria Taft wrote of the revelation.

Blatant misconduct

Taft went on to say that the FBI’s actions were part of a pattern of interference in the nation’s politics. She pointed out that the Mar-A-Lago raid may have been for the purpose of getting Russian collusion documents back from Trump so they could be hidden or destroyed.

If that were the case, however, Trump would surely have accused the FBI of that in his statements, it would seem.

So far, he has not done so.

In any case, it is time to do something about the FBI’s blatant misconduct before it loses all credibility as an American institution. If that’s even still possible.
