Elon Musk casts his first ever vote for a GOP candidate

Republican Mayra Flores made history this week when she won a special election in Texas’ traditionally Democratic Congressional District.

One of those who cast a ballot for her was billionaire Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who announced that Flores is the first GOP candidate that he has ever voted for.

Musk says voters will send a “massive red wave” to Washington in the fall

Musk made the admission in a tweet early on Wednesday morning. He also predicted that Americans will send a “massive red wave” in this year’s midterm elections.

Less than an hour later, Musk said he is weighing whether to form a new political action committee aimed at supporting those candidates who support centrist policy positions.

The world’s richest man has taken a greater interest in politics of late as he has grown increasingly critical of left-wing extremism.

Fox News noted that Flores will be the first-ever Mexican-born congresswoman to serve in the House of Representatives.

Texas Democrat says his party has taken Hispanic voters “for granted”

“First and foremost I thank God for the blessing of the opportunity to serve the people of Texas’ 34th Congressional District,” Flores told Fox News Digital in a statement following her win.

“I am also grateful to my family for their unwavering love and support throughout this campaign, and to the voters of South Texas for entrusting me to represent them in Washington,” she continued.

“I look forward to standing strong for our conservative values of faith, family, and freedom and to earning the opportunity to serve our community further in the months to come,” Flores concluded.

Fox News also reported that Flores’ win in an overwhelmingly Hispanic district has left some in the Democratic Party feeling concerned about what it might mean for their future. One of them is Texas Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, who accused his party of having taken “Latinos in South Texas for granted.”
