Billionaire Elon Musk caused shockwaves late last month after Fox News reported that his $44 billion offer to buy Twitter had been accepted.
Musk has since laid out his plans to change the platform, and they have many Democrats feeling worried.
More focus on paid subscriptions
According to Reuters, Musk will strive for a five-fold increase in revenues at Twitter. He aims to achieve that by making the company less dependent on advertising revenue and more focused on paid subscriptions.
Musks’ goal is to generate $30.22 worth of average revenue per user, up from the $24.83 per user that it took in last year.
What’s more, he intends to grow Twitter’s payment business from earning $15 million in 2023 to $1.3 billion in five years time.
Musk also promised in a series of tweets this past Saturday that he “will be super focused on hardcore software engineering,” something that will come with new standards for employees.
“I strongly believe that all managers in a technical area must be technically excellent,” he insisted. “Managers in software must write great software or it’s like being a cavalry captain who can’t ride a horse!”
Musk promises to protect free speech
However, what has raised alarm among leftists is Musk’s pledge to defend free speech, something he addressed while speaking with an Associated Press reporter at New York City’s annual Met Gala.

“Well, I mean, the goal that I have, should everything come to fruition with Twitter, is to have a service that is broadly — is as broadly inclusive as possible where ideally most of America is on it and talking!” Musk explained.
“I think just generally, the — I’m looking for something that’s like I said as broadly inclusive as possible, that’s as trusted as possible as a system, and I hope we are successful in that regard,” he continued.
Musk further promised to get scam artists and fake accounts off Twitter, something he is ready to go on “the warpath” over.
