Elon Musk says he will start voting Republican

President Joe Biden has seen his support crater over the past year, with Five Thirty Eight’s polling aggregate putting his average approval level at just 41.1%. What’s more, he’s managed to alienate a very powerful figure.

Fortune magazine reported this week that Tesla CEO Elon Musk just announced his plan to start voting Republican.

Musk suggests that Biden isn’t “the real president”

Musk made the declaration on Tuesday during an interview with the “All-In” podcast, saying that his partisan preferences have recently changed.

“I would classify myself as a moderate, neither Republican nor Democrat, and in fact, I have voted overwhelmingly for Democrats historically,” Fortune quoted Musk as saying.

“I might never have voted for a Republican. Now this election, I will,” the billionaire continued. He did not specify whether he was making reference to this year’s midterms or the presidential race in 2024.

Musk also accused Biden of being an ineffective president who is being directed by others in his administration, saying, “It’s hard to tell what Biden’s doing to be totally frank. The real president is whoever controls the teleprompter.”

“This administration doesn’t seem to get a lot done,” Musk complained. “The Trump administration, leaving Trump aside, [had] a lot of people in the administration who were effective at getting things done.”

Musk has grown increasingly critical of the left

Musk has previously hinted at his dissatisfaction with Democrats: late last month he tweeted out a meme that portrayed leftist as having grown increasingly extreme.

What’s more, Musk has criticized the president for praising auto giants Ford and GM while overlooking his own company.

Musk became a veritable boogeyman for many on the left earlier this year after he announced plans to purchase Twitter and allow former President Trump to return to the platform.

“I would reverse the permanent ban,” Fox News quoted Musk as saying earlier this month. He added, “I don’t own Twitter yet. So this is not like a thing that will definitely happen, because what if I don’t own Twitter?”
