Elon Musk says he would prefer somebody less ‘divisive’ than Trump in 2024

Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter has sent the left into a frenzy for really one reason: they’re terrified of Donald Trump coming back into power.

But while authoritarians on the left have painted Musk as some kind of right-wing culture warrior, he’s not a big fan of the 45th president. In a tweet Thursday, Musk said he would prefer somebody less ‘divisive’ than Trump in the 2024 election, the New York Post reported.

Musk calls Trump ‘divisive’

The Tesla CEO said that he would still like to see Trump’s Twitter account restored.

Trump was permanently banned from Twitter in January 2021 following the Capitol “insurrection,” in an unprecedented and chilling move to silence a sitting president.

“Even though I think a less divisive candidate would be better in 2024, I still think Trump should be restored to Twitter,” Musk tweeted.

Musk added that Joe Biden misinterpreted his narrow election victory as a sweeping mandate to “transform the country,” when really, voters just wanted to move on from the constant “drama” of the Trump years.

Biden has been forced to downsize his ambitions as crippling inflation unleashed by his reckless spending policies puts his administration on the defensive, while raising the prospect of a Republican victory in the midterm elections.

Left rattled by Musk’s takeover

Although Trump has already said he has no desire to return to Twitter — opting instead to stick to his own social media brand, TRUTH — Musk made it clear this week that he plans to reverse Trump’s “stupid” and “morally wrong” ban.

Twitter’s former CEO, Jack Dorsey, has also criticized Twitter for permanently banning Trump, saying, “Generally permanent bans are a failure of ours and don’t work.”

For his part, Musk has said Twitter “obviously” has a “strong left wing bias” and that its censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop scandal in 2020, which arguably helped swing the election, was wildly inappropriate.

The Biden team is watching Musk’s takeover carefully, CNBC reported, with even Barack Obama said to be alarmed at the prospect of Trump’s return to Twitter and the turbocharging effect it could have on a Trump comeback bid in 2024. Trump has repeatedly hinted at running again.

Musk said Friday that his Twitter purchase was on hold over his concerns about the number of bots on the site.
