Released emails uncover vast ‘Censorship Enterprise’ of Biden admin colluding with social media to suppress free speech

President Joe Biden and his administration have shown repeatedly that they have little respect for the constraints placed upon the federal government by the U.S. Constitution, including the First Amendment and its protection of the freedom of speech of American citizens.

It was recently revealed that dozens of government officials in numerous federal agencies and departments have been secretly colluding, coordinating with, and likely also coercing, major social media platforms to censor and suppress content viewed as disfavorable by the administration, the Daily Caller reported.

The revelations came from email chains obtained through a court-ordered discovery process as part of a lawsuit filed against the Biden administration by Republican Attorneys General Eric Schmitt of Missouri and Jeff Landry of Louisiana.

Collusion and coordination on censorship and suppression

“Missouri and Louisiana filed a landmark lawsuit back in May that seeks to expose how top Biden Administration officials allegedly colluded with social media companies to censor freedom of speech on several topics, including COVID-19,” AG Schmitt said in a news release on Thursday. “We won in court in July, and the Court required the Biden Administration to turn over communications between federal officials and social media companies.”

“We have already received several documents that clearly prove that the federal government has an incestuous relationship with social media companies and clearly coordinate to censor freedom of speech, but we’re not done,” he continued. “The Department of Justice is cowering behind executive privilege and has refused to turn over communications between the highest-ranking Biden Administration officials and social media companies.”

“That’s why, yesterday, we asked the Court to compel the Department of Justice to produce those records. We’re just getting started — stay tuned,” Schmitt added.

A vast “Censorship Enterprise” involving dozens of officials across numerous agencies

The Daily Caller reported, and as was duly noted in the attorney general’s Twitter thread, that there were already countless glaring examples of numerous administration officials collaborating with executives of the top social media company platforms to essentially bypass the First Amendment to censor and suppress supposed “disinformation” and “misinformation” that the administration didn’t want to see spread on those platforms.

Yet, as was also pointed out by Schmitt, the Biden administration has been steadfast in its resistance to turning over relevant materials involving senior officials at the White House and other departments, despite the prior court order to do so — hence an additional court filing to demand the administration fully comply with the court’s order.

“The limited discovery produced so far provides a tantalizing snapshot into a massive, sprawling federal ‘Censorship Enterprise,’ which includes dozens of federal officials across at least eleven federal agencies and components identified so far,” the joint petition stated, “who communicate with social-media platforms about misinformation, disinformation, and the suppression of private speech on social media — all with the intent and effect of pressuring social-media platforms to censor and suppress private speech that federal officials disfavor.”

“The discovery provided so far demonstrates that this Censorship Enterprise is extremely broad, including officials in the White House, HHS, DHS, CISA, the CDC, NIAID, and the Office of the Surgeon General; and evidently other agencies as well, such as the Census Bureau, the FDA, the FBI, the State Department, the Treasury Department, and the U.S. Election Assistance Commission,” the filing added. “And it rises to the highest levels of the U.S. Government, including numerous White House officials. Defendants have objected to producing some of the most relevant and probative information in their possession.”

The Biden administration knows that it is strictly prohibited by the Constitution and First Amendment from infringing upon the freedom of speech enjoyed by the American people — which includes posting content on social media platforms that the government may not like or agree with — so the administration has sought to enlist is allies in the major social media companies to do that dirty work for them, which is likely illegal and unconstitutional and entirely antithetical to the American way of life.
