Even before he started campaigning for the White House, President Joe Biden had a long history of making strange and borderline inappropriate remarks.
The president toed that line once again Friday during a visit to a day care center in Connecticut when, according to Breitbart, he joked to the crowd, “Everybody knows I like kids better than people.”
Scenes from Biden’s arrival at the facility showed him greeting and chatting with the children there, even squatting down and giving hugs to some of them, according to reports.
The purpose of Biden’s speech at the Capitol Child Development Center in Hartford, Connecticut was to promote his highly partisan “Build Back Better” agenda on domestic spending, which is still being debated on Capitol Hill.
About midway through his speech, while discussing the refundable Child Tax Credit that would purportedly be made permanent in the proposed legislation, President Biden cracked his joke about liking children better than people, presumably referencing adults.
“You know, when I talk to all you folks out in the playground, and as I joked — everybody knows I like kids better than people — fortunately, they like me. That’s why, maybe, I like them,” Biden said, eliciting laughter from the audience.
Biden faces hecklers
The impetus for the joke that the president doesn’t care for full-grown adults, perhaps, is the fact that he was greeted by angry hecklers and protesters — from all sides of the political spectrum — during his trip to Connecticut, as Fox News reported.
While Biden was greeting the children outside the daycare facility, he was harangued by immigration reform activists from the left as well as supporters of former President Donald Trump on the right.
Both sides engaged in the increasingly common “F*** Joe Biden” chant, Fox reported, while some labeled the president a “traitor.”
And the heckling wasn’t confined to the daycare center; Biden was also jeered upon his arrival at the Hartford airport, as well as at the University of Connecticut at the end of his scheduled appearances. At all points, it was far from only Republicans showing up to speak out, reports said.
He finally admits it
Worse still for Biden is a fact he already knows: Speaking at the daycare center Friday, Biden admitted the reality of his stalled domestic spending agenda amid Democratic infighting over the specifics of the Build Back Better Act.
According to reports from both Breitbart and Fox, Biden conceded that once negotiations are all said and done, the final bill will likely fall far short of the proposed $3.5 trillion he’s been hoping for. It’s just his latest failure since taking office in January; thankfully, protesters in Connecticut and across the nation aren’t letting him off the hook for it.
