Fauci says he will retire before 2024

Anthony Fauci has given mixed signals on when Americans can finally expect to see him leave his government post.

In his latest comments on the matter, the controversial 81-year-old bureaucrat told Fox News that he will likely retire before 2024, the New York Post reported.

Fauci says he will retire before 2024

Despite saying just weeks ago that he would quit if Donald Trump were to return to power, Fauci told anchor Neil Cavuto that he had no desire to talk “politics” when pressed on the subject again.

But Fauci did tell Cavuto that he likely won’t be working for any president a few years from now. Laughing, Fauci added that he “isn’t done yet.”

“No, I’m not done yet,” he said. “But you’re talking about a few years from now. And I don’t foresee that I will be doing this a few years from now.”

“I have been doing this now for 38 years. It will be over 40 years if I wait that long,” he added.

Fauci has been safely ensconced in permanent Washington since the Reagan era, when he was appointed to his current role. The COVID pandemic made Fauci a fixture on cable news, where he has been treated for more than two years as the voice of “science” itself, a title Fauci clearly believes he has earned.

Reign of terror ending?

Many Americans have called for Fauci to be fired over his contradictory, often misleading statements — he recently declared the pandemic over, only to reverse himself a day later — as well as his key role in forcing totalitarian “public health” restrictions on the country.

Fauci recently said he finds it “disturbing” that federal courts have authority to check the power of unelected bureaucrats at the CDC after a judge froze the Biden administration’s mask mandate for air travel and other public transportation.

In his interview with Cavuto, Fauci said he is less worried about the mandate itself being overturned than the “authority” of unelected bureaucrats being challenged.

“One of the issues that I have articulated in the past, and I will in the future, [is] it’s less about mandates on the plane than it is about who has the right and the authority and the capability of making public health decisions,” he said.

While most Americans have finally begun to move on from COVID, Fauci is clearly not finished with his power trip just yet. The day he is finally off of Americans’ backs can’t come soon enough.
