Dr. Fauci says he would not attend the Trump rally due to COVID-19 risk

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the White House’s foremost infectious disease expert, betrayal President Trump in a recent interview, saying that he would not go to a Trump rally if given the opportunity due to the risk for COVID-19.

Fauci has tepidly warned protesters gathering in cities across the nation to be wary of the risk for transmitting COVID-19, but has spoken out multiple times against Donald Trump’s rally planned for the upcoming weekend.

Media campaign

The liberal media is in a tizzy attempting to justify its double standard for the Trump rally and the weeks of large protests that have been allowed since the beginning of June.

The New York Times characterized the protest controversy as a “Delicate Balance: Weighing Protest Against the Risks of the Coronavirus,” but when it comes to Trump’s rally, gathering together is a “Dangerous Move.”

Dr. Fauci seems to have fallen into the same trap, telling the Daily Beast that in regard to public gatherings, “outside is better than inside, no crowd is better than crowd” and “crowd is better than big crowd,” appearing to justify the largely outdoor protests while tacitly condemning the indoor rally.

When asked if he would personally attend a rally, he replied that he would not due to his high-risk status as an older adult. Fauci is 79 years old.

The media, in tandem with Democrat leaders, is doing everything it can to justify large crowds gathering in virtually every US city, while simultaneously warning that Donald Trump will be personally responsible for thousands of deaths from the upcoming rally.

Do as I say

Columnist Joseph Curl pointed out that new examples of just such behavior are exposed nearly every day.

“Rep. Val Demings, a Florida Democrat rising up in the Joe Biden veepstakes, attended a massive “Healing and Hope” rally, where thousands of maskless protesters were jammed in elbow to elbow,” Curl wrote on Wednesday. “She told her Twitter followers she was there ‘to speak with our community as America grieves.'”

“But by Thursday, Demings changed her tune (perhaps signifying that she’s a perfect choice for Biden),” Curl continued. Demings is reportedly on Democrat nominee Joe Biden’s shortlist of potential running mates. “The president’s plan to hold mass rallies in Florida and elsewhere as we experience a resurgence in COVID cases is irresponsible and selfish,” Demings said.

Fortunately for American public health, the risk for COVID-19 transmission seems to actually be low at protests, despite the marked lack of social distancing at the events. Fox News reported on Tuesday that “Coronavirus testing of more than 1,300 people who protested Minnesota’s Twin Cities after the death of George Floyd shows few new positive cases, according to a report.”

Although these are early results, it’s fairly clear that the risk for an explosion of new cases from large gatherings isn’t quite as high as health officials wanted Americans to think for the months leading up to the protests. This is good news for Americans hoping to return to some semblance of normalcy, but terrible news for Democrats that want to see catastrophic numbers of COVID-19 cases arise from the Trump rally.
