Apparently, President Joe Biden has started speaking in tongues — at least, it seems so when a growing number of his comments now need to be interpreted by his administration and other assorted officials before we know what they really mean.
On Sunday, Biden declared during a 60 Minutes interview that the coronavirus pandemic was “over,” but on Monday, Dr. Anthony Fauci said there was still work to do to combat the virus.
Fauci told Politico that Biden meant the worst of the pandemic, like when the U.S. had 3,000 deaths per day attributed to the virus, was over, but that COVID-19 really wasn’t over as far as a response and mitigation.
Of course, Fauci is in CYA mode because if he agreed that the pandemic is over, he would have to support immediately ending emergency declarations, mask recommendations, and vaccine mandates that still have a stranglehold on certain parts of the U.S. population.
The GOP responded quickly to Biden’s declaration, calling for an end to all COVID-related emergencies and restrictions, but Fauci said essentially, not so fast.
“I’m not comfortable with 400 deaths a day,” he said. “People should not be cavalier that we’re out of the woods.”
That number seems an exaggeration, given that Worldometers only put the 7-day average of deaths due to the virus at 210, as of September 20.
It’s a significant difference since the lower number is akin to a bad flu year. And we have dealt with the flu without masks or emergency declarations for decades, if not longer.
They want it both ways
In other words, Democrats want to have their cake and eat it, too.
They want to claim the public victory over the virus and take credit for that victory, while at the same time maintaining control over the population with emergency declarations that basically let them do whatever they want as long as they say it’s to fight the virus.
The Department of Health and Human Services keeps the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency in place.
It’s time for Republicans and all who resent this illegal and illogical power grab to do whatever they can to fight it in the legal system and elsewhere if we ever want our country to be a functioning republic again.
