According to Real Clear Investigations, federal authorities recently raided a business with links to one of former Vice President Joe Biden’s close family members.
Back in January, FBI agents searched the home of former Americore Holdings CEO Grant White along with one of the facilities in manages, Ellwood City Medical Center in Pennsylvania. Americore Holdings is a company focused on the acquisition and management of rural hospital facilities, and the enterprise filed for bankruptcy at the end of last year.
Bankruptcy trustee Paul Randolph has alleged that White “grossly mismanaged” the company while also embezzling funds from it. What’s more, Randolph contends that Americore Holdings failed to run its hospitals “in a manner that is consistent with public safety.”
While not yet named as a target of the FBI’s investigation, James Biden — brother of Joe Biden — has been named in separate litigation as a “principal” in the company.
The aforementioned lawsuit was filed by Michael Frey and business partner Dr. Mohannad Azzam, and it sheds light on the potentially nefarious dealings in which James Biden was engaged.
According to Politico, Frey and Azzam accuse Biden of trying to artificially and dishonestly generate investor interest in a potential partnership between their hospital management firms and Biden’s business group by making reference to the influence wielded by his powerful brother.
Further, Biden’s business partner, hedge fund manager Michael Lewitt, is also alleged to have dropped Joe Biden’s name during negotiations as a way to assuage investor concerns over merger-related legal trouble.
“Jim [Biden] told me: Don’t worry every time someone threatens to sue you. You’re with us now. Nobody is gonna touch you,” the complaint in the lawsuit read.
“It was Frey’s understanding that Lewitt was implying that DMM [his hospital management firm] was ‘protected’ because of Jim Biden’s connections,” it continued.
However, the Washington Examiner reported that “a representative for James Biden brushed the lawsuit off as a media ploy, saying it was ‘nothing more than a cynical attempt to manipulate the press by taking advantage of Jim Biden’s public profile as the brother of a presidential candidate.'”
Troubles continue to mount
James Biden is not the only member of his family who has been accused of serious wrongdoing: the Washington Examiner reported separately that Joe Biden’s other brother, Frank Biden, has continued to evade paying a hefty legal settlement owed to two women whose father died in a car accident in which he was involved in 1999.
Meanwhile, significant questions continue to swirl around Joe Biden’s son, Hunter. Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Ron Johnson (R-WI) are at the forefront of those seeking greater insight into the younger Biden’s potentially questionable financial dealings in Ukraine, with the pair recently requesting documents from multiple federal agencies in furtherance of their ongoing probe.
