FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago leads to massive increase in Truth Social app downloads

The FBI’s raid of the former president’s Mar-a-Lago estate appears to have literally driven people to Donald Trump.

The Daily Mail reports that, following the raid, there was a massive increase in the downloads of Trump’s Truth Social media app.

This is the social media app that Trump and the Trump Media & Technology Group developed in response to Big Tech’s censorship of conservative viewpoints. The most notable instance of that censorship, of course, is when Twitter, Facebook, and others banned Trump from their platforms following the Capitol protest of Jan. 6, 2021.

The numbers

The Daily Mail obtained the information for its report from Data AI.

What the numbers show is that, during the week following the FBI’s raid of Mar-a-Lago, there was a 550% increase in the number of downloads of Trump Social.

That’s a massive increase.

It’s simple: cause and effect

Trump initially used Truth Social to announce the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago. Since then, he has used it to provide all kinds of updates on the situation. And, all throughout, he has used it to denounce the raid as another politically-motivated “witch hunt.”

In a recent post, Trump wrote:

Never in our Country’s history has there been a time where law enforcement has been so viciously and violently involved in the life and times of politics in our Nation. Even in light of the fact that they violated the Russia, Russia, Russia Scam, Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax #2, the Mueller Witch Hunt, lied many times before Congress, and on many occasions put out fraudulent information before the FISA Court, they continue. They have no shame. They are destroying our Country!

Trump also, in recent days, has posted a large number of reports that have shown that the FBI raid has only driven supporters to Trump. It’s got to be a nightmare for the Democrats that every time they try to drive people away from Trump they only manage to drive people toward him.

Truth Social v. Big Tech

Truth Social has certainly had a good deal of success since its launch earlier this year in February. But, it still is nowhere near as popular as Big Tech’s social media apps.

For instance, whereas Trump has 3.9 million followers on Truth Social, he had some 80 million followers back when he was on Twitter.

It appears, though, that part of the reason more have not gone to Truth Social is the limitations of its accessibility. If Trump improves on this, chances are the site’s number will shoot way up – as they did following the FBI’s raid.
