FBI Report claims Alec Baldwin pulled trigger during ‘Rust’ shooting

An FBI report claims actor Alec Baldwin was responsible for pulling the trigger of a gun on the set of the film Rust that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins last year.

The report could be devastating for the actor who has argued he did not pull the trigger in the shooting.

The report

“With the hammer fully cocked, the gun ‘could not be made to fire without a pull of the trigger while the working internal components were intact and functional,’ the report stated,” according to the Conservative Brief.

“With the hammer de-cocked on a loaded chamber, the gun was able to detonate a primer ‘without a pull of the trigger when the hammer was struck directly,’ which is normal for this type of revolver,” it added.

The background

Baldwin spoke out regarding the tragedy during a widely aired interview in December, claiming he did not pull the trigger.

“She was someone who was loved by everyone who worked with and liked by everyone who worked with and admired. … I mean, even now, I find it hard to believe that. It just doesn’t seem to seem real to me,” Baldwin said during an interview with ABC News.

The evidence now points to the opposite view, showing that Baldwin most likely did pull the trigger of the gun that led to the death.

Despite being an accidental shooting, the liability involved in using a gun with a live round on a film set is massive for the film company and for Baldwin.

The story will likely continue as the legal battle proceeds over Hutchins’ death.
