Fighter jets were seen in Rehobeth Beach on Saturday and reportedly escorted a private plane out of restricted airspace in proximity to President Joe Biden.
Biden was rushed to a secure location at a fire station around 1 p.m. by the Secret Service while the plane was intercepted and removed.
“Shortly before 1 p.m. today a privately owned aircraft entered the restricted airspace over Rehoboth Delaware after mistakenly entering a secured area,” the U.S. Secret Service said in a statement. “The aircraft was immediately escorted out of the restricted airspace.”
“Preliminary investigation reveals the pilot was not on the proper radio channel, was not following the NOTAMS (Notice to Airmen) that had been filed and was not following published flight guidance,” the officials continued. “The United States Secret Service will be interviewing the pilot.”
Area shut down
Local independent journalist Alan Henney tweeted about the occurrence, noting that police closures of Rehobeth Ave. impacted the GOP convention being held there today.

The Secret Service soon declared the threat over and the area returned to normal. Biden has a beach house in the area, and he was seen walking on the beach a couple hours after the incident.
Residents in the area reported seeing a small white plane, then seeing two military jets flying low over the area and escorting the plane out of the airspace.
Biden in Delaware
Biden goes to Delaware often, ostensibly to get away from the White House and into a more familiar and relaxing environment.
The Rehobeth Beach property is one of three Biden owns in Delaware with his wife Jill.
Biden has been dogged with low approval numbers amid sky-high inflation and gas prices that have doubled since he took office.
For him, though, it seems like business as usual, and he seems to feel no urgency about fixing the massive problems he has created in the country.
