First lady mocked for comparing Hispanic Americans to tacos

During a bizarre moment in a speech she gave on Tuesday, First Lady Jill Biden compared Hispanic Americans to tacos.

According to Fox News, Biden made the comparison while addressing attendees at the 2022 UnidosUS Annual Conference titled “Siempre Adelante: Our Quest for Equity.”

First Lady “pandering” to Hispanic community

“Raul helped build this organization with the understanding that the diversity of this community, as distinct as the bodegas of the Bronx, as beautiful as the blossoms of Miami and as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio, is your strength,” the first lady declared.

Biden’s words were met with a negative reaction from many on Twitter, including the Media Research Center’s Jorge Bonilla.

Conservative writer Tim Young spoke up as well, tweeting, “Liberal privilege is Jill Biden telling a group of hispanic people that they’re “as diverse as breakfast tacos” and not being canceled for it.

Meanwhile, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ spokeswoman remarked, “Imagine the regime media meltdown if a conservative called Hispanics “breakfast tacos” like Dr. Jill Biden did at the Latinx Luncheon today.”

RNC communications director calls Biden’s statement “derogatory”

What’s more, Fox News noted that the Republican National Committee (RNC) has since begun selling t-shirts bearing the slogan, “Not Your Breakfast Taco.”

RNC communications director Danielle Alvarez told Fox News Digital Biden’s “attempts to pander are disrespectful and derogatory.”

She went on to complain  that “Democrats have no idea how to speak to a community they have never cared about and consistently take for granted.”

“With Jill Biden comparing us to tacos, it makes sense why Hispanics overwhelmingly disapprove of this out-of-touch, failed administration and are leaving the Democrat Party in droves,” she insisted.

Michael LaRosa serves as Jill Biden’s press secretary, and he later put out a tweet that said, “The First Lady apologizes that her words conveyed anything but pure admiration and love for the Latino community.”
