Former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morrell told House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees during a hearing that Anthony Blinken, then a senior Biden campaign advisor, and the Biden campaign asked him in October 2020 to get former intelligence officials to claim that news stories about the Hunter Biden laptop were "Russian disinformation."
Dozens of ex-officials did sign a letter discrediting the laptop, including former Obama CIA Director John Brennan, former Obama DNI James Clapper, and former CIA director, and then-Defense Secretary Leon Panetta.
The letter went a long way toward discrediting the information found on the laptop and marginalizing its impact on the 2020 presidential election.
"We are examining that public statement signed by 51 former intelligence officials that falsely discredited a New York Post story regarding Hunter Biden’s laptop as supposed Russian disinformation," the two committee chairs wrote on Thursday. "As part of our oversight, we have learned that you played a role in the inception of this statement while serving as a Biden campaign advisor, and we therefore request your assistance with our oversight."

The campaign's actions seem to be a clear example of election interference to counteract a GOP October surprise--one that later turned out to be true as the laptop was declared genuine after the election.
In addition to the letter, social media outlets censored the New York Post for printing stories about the laptop and posting them online. Most voters never saw the information, and a poll taken later said that if the story had been widely circulated, Donald Trump would most likely have defeated Joe Biden in that election.
It was the clearest example until that time of a candidate, campaign or political party putting a finger on the scale unfairly to affect voting. In fact, it is what many Republicans are referring to when they say the election was "stolen" from Trump.
The letter addresses this by saying, "This concerted effort to minimize and suppress public dissemination of the serious allegations about the Biden family was a grave disservice to all American citizens’ informed participation in our democracy."
In other words, the Biden campaign cheated by taking advantage of a mostly compliant media and Big Tech.
Let's get real: the media is STILL covering for Biden every chance it gets, minimally covering information coming from the House Oversight and other committees investigating alleged Biden family corruption and foreign payouts that could amount to an influence-peddling scheme by the then-vice president of the United States.
If Trump and his family had been accused of doing what Biden and his family are alleged to have done, the mainstream media would be talking and writing about it day and night. They probably wouldn't sleep!
But because Biden's party affiliation matches theirs, they have downplayed it and pretended there's no there there as much as possible.
House Republicans are finding out more every day about Biden's misdeeds and those of his campaign--the only question is, will they be able to do anything about it?
