Former PA Democrat sentenced up to 30 months on child porn charges

An ex-Democratic councilman from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was found guilty of child pornography and was sentenced on Monday to 14 to 30 months in state prison.

According to WHTM, 53-year-old Brad Koplinski recently entered a plea of guilty to all 15 felony counts of possessing child pornography.

Breitbart News reported that the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office through FOX 43, in addition to his sentence, he will also complete five years of probation and be required to register as a sex offender for 15 years.

According to PennLive, detectives first determined that Koplopski transferred child pornography to the internet at least 44 times after learning that he had done so 36 times using a laptop and a thumb drive in September 2020.

Additionally, he said that he would watch pornographic material, including minors with groups of guys and that he had introduced other men to porn.

The 53-year-old and his legal team hoped for a lighter punishment, perhaps only some time in the county jail. He should serve his sentence in state jail, the prosecution team argued, and the judge ultimately agreed.

Since his arrest, Koplisnksi has been attending treatment sessions, and he apologized for his behavior during the hearing.

“Humiliation is not a negative term. It is a return to humility,” the judge told Koplisnki before his sentencing. “You have taken humiliation and formed the foundation of recovery.”

In addition to serving as a councilor for Harrisburg for eight years before losing his bid for reelection in 2015, Koplinski ran for lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania in 2014 as the Democrat contender but lost the primary.

Additionally, he unsuccessfully ran as the Democratic candidate for Dauphin County Clerk of Courts in 2019.

Koplinski had previously been detained for trespassing into the 2016 Democratic Party National Convention in Philadelphia and swiping a press pass.

He was also detained for driving without a license that year.
