Attorney General Bill Barr’s has refused to bow to the mob since joining the Trump administration, and recent events have only prompted the left to intensify attacks.
According to reports, faculty members of the George Washington University Law school are attempting to remove Barr’s name from the Dean’s Suite and rescind his honorary degree from the university in another partisan attack.
Ramping up attacks
Barr has been consistent and clear in his pursuit of true justice and support for Donald Trump and it enrages the left.
Barr earned his J.D. from the school in 1977, and was awarded an honorary degree in Doctor of Laws in 1992 while he was serving as Attorney General for George H.W. Bush.
The school also instituted the “William P. Barr Dean’s Suite” at the school in honor of Barr’s accomplishments. Progressive activists at the school want to take that away from him because they are furious that he is willing to stand up for American values.
The Daily Beast first broke the news last week, reporting that “Faculty members at George Washington University Law School pushed this week for the school to rescind the honorary degree it had bestowed upon alumnus Bill Barr following the Attorney General’s efforts to clamp down on protests in the nation’s capital, sources tell The Daily Beast.”
The Daily Beast reported that it appears that the push to remove any trace of Barr from the school won’t go anywhere, but according to Fox contributor Sara A. Carter, three concerned GW Law students “confirmed they had knowledge of a “secret meeting” that took place between Law school faculty members and that a final vote on the decision is set for this Thursday, June 11.”
“I heard that the faculty secretly convened to rescind Bill Barr’s honorary degree, and, in that meeting, a faculty member claimed that the majority of students favored the move,” said one student.
Another student continued, “This is ridiculous and it doesn’t reflect the desires of the entire student body, including myself. He is a good man and a distinguished alumnus.”
The mob strikes again
GW has a reputation for awarding honorary degrees to noted global public figures, including deposed Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, who was charged by international organizations for torturing and repressing his own citizens during his reign.
While GW did not and has not ever rescinded Mubarak’s honorary degree, according to a GW student, faculty has moved at lightning speed to hold an emergency meeting about rescinding Barr’s because they believe Barr has “abused his power and that he’s politicizing the Justice Department.” The only other honorary degree ever rescinded was that of disgraced former comedian Bill Cosby after he was accused of sexual assault in 2016.
One of the anonymous students lamented the attempts to oust Barr, saying:
Bill Barr has donated so much time and money to our law school and now they’re going to cancel him. What message does this send to our other donors? If you were going to donate money to the Law School, would you do it knowing that one day the school would betray you and ruin your name? They will take your money, they will write your name on the Dean’s Suite and then once they’re done with you, they’ll character assassinate you and throw you in the garbage.”
