Geraldo Rivera calls Greg Gutfeld ‘insulting punk’ in abortion shouting match

Fox News hosts Greg Gutfeld and Geraldo Rivera got into a shouting match about abortion during The Five on Wednesday.

As Gutfeld argued that liberals are just too cowardly to admit that they support “freedom over fetuses,” Rivera shot back at Gutfeld for being an “insulting punk,” Breitbart reported.

Rivera calls Gutfeld “punk”

While even Democrats used to call abortion a “necessary evil” that should be “safe, legal and rare,” they now treat it like something to “celebrate,” Gutfeld lamented. That’s when Rivera cut in, saying, “That’s baloney.”

Gutfeld fired back that he would provide “evidence” of liberals celebrating abortion, of which there is plenty, but the back-and-forth continued to escalate.

“Cherish the wire hanger stuck up their private parts trying to get–” Rivera said.

“The unborn child becomes– This is exactly what I expected,” Gutfeld said.

“You are arrogant,” Rivera shot back.

“Go for it, Geraldo. Come on, keep going. You’re making a fool of yourself,” Gutfeld said.

Rivera said, “You know something, you insulting punk?”

“Freedom over fetuses”

Earlier, Gutfeld had praised the simplicity of the pro-life position, which he contrasted with the disingenuous arguments liberals often use to justify abortion. As an example, Gutfeld knocked Joe Biden for trying to tie the prospective end of Roe V. Wade with a speculative ban on interracial marriage.

“You ask somebody why they’re pro-life, they will say because abortion takes a life, and we believe life is sacred. You could disagree with that, but you can’t disagree with the simplicity of it. The problem with the pro-choicers is they don’t have the balls to state their case plainly,” Gutfeld said.

Gutfeld broke down the left’s core position to “freedom over fetuses.”

Rivera protested the idea that liberals are evasive on abortion, saying, “My body, my choice. How much simpler could you get?”

Continuing his point, Gutfeld said the left would command more respect if they were candid about what they believe. If they were honest, they would say, “Yeah, it kills an unborn kid but I prefer my freedom,” Gutfeld said.

Defending the indefensible

Gutfeld is definitely onto something here. It’s rare to hear somebody on the left justify abortion without resorting to language games and red herrings.

A favorite diversionary tactic of theirs is to say that conservatives aren’t truly pro-life because they don’t support this or that welfare program that liberals want — as if infanticide, which liberals do support, is “pro-life.”

As Gutfeld put it, the conservative position is simple: abortion is murder. The left doesn’t have a compelling answer to this claim that doesn’t involve, in some way, denying reality.

That’s why they use terms like “reproductive care” to obscure the ghoulish truth of what abortion actually does to a human being. Liberals want abortion on demand, but they’re afraid to defend abortion for what it truly is.
