Rudy Giuliani says Hunter Biden probe has unearthed ‘smoking gun’

Former US Attorney Rudy Giuliani has said that he has evidence against former Vice President Joe Biden that amounts to “a smoking gun.” He made the claim while appearing on Fox News on Saturday.

“I want to prove what happened, because I believe if we prove what happened, he will be totally vindicated,” he said, speaking of President Trump.

“We’ve got the documents”

“Lindsey, get started,” Giuliani remarked, referring to Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC). Graham has publicly said that an investigation of Hunter Biden needs to happen.

Giuliani went on to claim that he possessed “what I used to call when I was U.S. attorney, the smoking gun.”

“Look, the government has been so lax in investigating, it’s pathetic,” the former New York City mayor complained. “I mean … when I was a U.S. attorney … the day Joe Biden made that boastful announcement … the investigation would have begun the next day for bribery.” Giuliani concluded by declaring, “We’ve got the documents, Lindsey.”

The “boastful announcement” in question came during a Council on Foreign Relations event that the former vice president attended in 2016.

There, Biden bragged on camera about threatening to withhold a billion dollars in US aid to Ukraine unless state prosecutor Victor Shokin was removed from office. “If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money,” he can be heard saying.

Shokin has said in a sworn affidavit that he was forced out for investigating Burisma, the Ukrainian oil and gas firm that appointed Hunter Biden to its board of directors.

Conflicting claims about Burisma

The elder Biden has claimed that he never discussed his son’s business dealings, but the evidence makes that difficult to believe.

Last fall, Fox News published a photo of both Bidens playing golf in 2014 with another one of Burisma’s board members.

The photo was taken on a golf course in New York state, and local news coverage confirms that Joe Biden was present in the area when the picture was said to be taken.

What’s more, Hunter Biden has contradicted his father by admitting in a New Yorker article that the pair did talk about his Ukrainian job, although he claims they only addressed the topic once.
